How many miles did you get out of your stock tires?

have you gotten out of your tires that came on the car? I am only at 6800 miles so I have a long way to go, but I was wondering how far yall have pushed your tires before getting a new set?

Sorry if this has been asked before, I searched but to no avail.

kenchan 10-26-2010 01:44 PM

i have about 4k miles on my car and the tires look pretty much new... i dont drive the car that hard or track it so expecting about 15k miles from them.

ClemsonWill 10-26-2010 01:45 PM

You are looking at 12-20K depending out how you drive.

OMGWTFBBQ 10-26-2010 01:54 PM

I have approximately 17500 miles on my stock tires, but they're pretty much done.

gorpie 10-26-2010 02:07 PM

Daily driver and I have 22,00 miles and not down to the wear indicators yet

Azroadster 10-26-2010 02:17 PM

I got 16K out of my stock Bridgestones. Hoping to get 20+ out of the new Hankooks.

I got 22k out of mine including 2 track days. They were scary in the rain at 22k.

DeLRo 10-26-2010 06:40 PM

Just passed 20,000 on Sunday. I need to take a look at all four to see the wear. Either way I'll be getting new rims/tires soon anyways.

Hi-Step'n370Z 10-26-2010 06:46 PM

Thought I'd throw this in the mix;
I read something recently that seemed to indicate that with such camber as the Z has, we may get more miles out of the tires of we corner harder to keep all treads against the road. If we just drive "normally" the camber will not allow the tire to flatten evenly against the road, which will wear the treads more on one side of the tire than the other side.

This didn't mean very much to me because I'm not going to drive my Z like that to try to get more tread life. Just plain sounds stupid.

I've accepted the fact that, if that's the case, and I believe it is, I'll be replacing tires on my Z more frequently than on a "regular" car with "regular" camber, and that's fine with me.

I love my Z and appreciate the handling/cornering, and if that means buying tires more frequently, that's fine with me. I wouldn't change a thing about my Z's handling.

How many miles are stock tires good for?

wondering if 12k miles is good lifespan for the stock tires?

I am considering a 2011 sport 6sp manual and noticed the rears were bald and fronts were less than half tread.

just wondering if it's had a spirited life or just how the stock tires wear.

thanks all !

Forrest 04-29-2012 04:33 PM

I got 23k miles out of mine with daily driving nothing crazy. You could say I grandma'ed it.

MacLean 04-29-2012 04:51 PM

It all depends on how you drive the car. I traded my G37S for my Nismo & I had 20,800 on them. I could have possibly went another 8-10k more on them. As stated earlier it is all about how you drive the car.

TreeSemdyZee 04-29-2012 05:17 PM

I drove around with the wrong air pressure for most of the life of mine (bad tire gauge) and didn't baby them and got quite a lot more than than out of them. Not sure the exact mile because I switch to snow tires in the winter, but I know it was a lot more than that.

BGTV8 04-29-2012 05:22 PM

I have had Direzza Star-spec on my MY09 Z34 since 36000klics and currently have 64000klics on the car and tyres are still grippy and have 4.0mm of tread left ... I'll be disappointed if they don;t cover 35000+klics ....

Car is a DD (and I am not over aggressive with the car) but also gets tracked on these tyres

tranceformer 04-29-2012 05:25 PM

I have a '09 Base sport 6MT.

first set of factory REAR tires: 15k miles
second set of factory REAR tires: 17k miles

first set of factory FRONT tires: 26k miles - (still had a little useable thread depth but I was concerned with the dry rotting)

yeah must have been pushed pretty good. :icon17:

LakeShow 04-29-2012 08:43 PM

Depends how you drive. I am honestly looking forward to changing them anyways. They are horrible.

Srenity 04-29-2012 10:27 PM

I only have about 10K miles on my car and the factory rears are pretty much slicks now they are so bald. I don't really drive it all that hard all the time or anything. Most of the miles are highway and I typically do about 75-80 since I am usually traveling to Sacramento (5 hours from me) to visit my girl friend. The fronts still have a lot of life though.

One_Quick_Z 04-29-2012 10:59 PM

Mine went 11k but that was with four days at the drag strip during their life span also so that shortened it a little.

Yeah we don't speak Aussie here mate... lol jk

I am at just over 20k and have a set of RE-11s in my garage that badly need to be installed... could prob get a few thousand more but for all intensive purposes they are done.

Mt Tam I am 04-29-2012 11:28 PM

7250 out of mine, and I never laid down rubber from a stop.

UNKNOWN_370 04-30-2012 12:05 AM

I'm @ 6200 miles and I'm @ 50% tread

UNKNOWN_370 04-30-2012 12:08 AM

6200 miles and 50% of my tread is gone

Vbp6US 04-30-2012 12:46 AM

I have a '09 Base 6MT.

Bought the car at 27,000 miles and the stock Advans were still on there. They were completely bald though, lol. No wires showing.

Went to these yesterday:

245/45/18 up front.

roy'sz 04-30-2012 02:54 AM

I got 24k out of the rears and still had good tread left in front. Got bad toe from the factory so got an extreme amount of feathering. Otherwise I could have gotten 30 out of rear and probably 50-60 out of fronts.

My rears were through at 17,000. The fronts still had decent tread, but I sold them anyway when I went with Pilot Super Sports.

Oh hellz yeah. Throw some snow tires on and you've got buttloads of fun. I grew up in the days before front wheel drive.

Gungrave 05-02-2012 05:45 PM

I got a little over 30k for my stock set :) The front could go for a few thousand more in my opinion, but the rear was close to done.

MUST 05-03-2012 01:30 AM

less than one hundred.

k20z3 05-03-2012 01:37 AM

28,000??

FricFrac 05-11-2012 01:19 PM

27k

13,000
then switched to Pilot Super Sports...

DarkJak 05-12-2012 12:35 PM

I'm at just under 11k miles on them now, and they have enough tread to just cover the lip on a quarter. I'll definitely be going to the PSS's after, which should be better on road noise, tire life, and dry and wet grip. They were even cheaper than the stock potenzas on Tirerack, last time I checked.

davidyan 05-13-2012 01:35 AM

I am at 40K, the rears are like drag slicks now but the fronts are still ok.

Mhaddy 07-27-2012 12:55 PM

A little over 24,000 km's on mine. All four tires are showing more wear on the outside than on the inside... what's this about the camber on the Z causing this wear pattern?

Alexshen1 07-27-2012 04:54 PM

38k still going, never rain in california anyways. waiting for new rims so i can get new tires with it(excuse for getting some new shoes HAHA)

chansuifei 07-28-2012 06:08 PM
