Mike runs the AD08 and I had the chance of riding with him during a session at Road America this weekend. The AD08s have pretty incredible grip and seemed to hold up nicely the entire 20min session. Whether it was tires, rear wing, driving ability or all of the above...he took the Carousel 10-15mph faster than I could in my Z.

Interesting, maybe it is about tire width also, only place i have seen/heard those tires is 225's all four corners on a friends GTI back in 2008 along side my GTI on PS2's. Maybe since the contact patch is wider it produces less noise?

No im aware the stockers are shitty, i read it out of context, i thought for some reason you were comparing it to the Kumhoes or other tires listed, forgot the stockers were listed.

So i think this basically boils down to what toilet paper you wipe your backside with...everyone like different brands, and everyone likes different tires for different reasons, i was trying to get the tread started to a pros and cons of each tire you have run, and if you ever regretted buying a tire.
I guess i started with the wrong statement/question of wondering why. I appreciate everyones input.

In terms of speed, the XS will rape the Michelin Pilot Sport tires. I don't know about noise. If you like the PS2, that's great. They are great tire in their own rights, but there are better ones too.

This month's Consumer Reports has several tire tests, including high performance summer. I'm at work and don't have the article in front of me, but the lowly, cheap Hankooks placed above almost all of the tires in the test, IIRC the PS2 and one other were above them.

Tire wear
I have a 2009 370Z sport, with Potenza RE050. After only, 6000 miles, the right rear is worn down to almost nothing, and the left rear is wearing fast too. Now, I never had my car on the racetrack, and I had the wheels alignment checked and they were slightly off. The shop manager is telling me that because the tire softness rating is 140, that 6,000 miles is normal for this tire. Is he snowing me?

The Z is a great car, but I will take a 911 for it anyday if money is no object. It's the same with the Michelins. There is nothing wrong with them, it's just there are better tires out there. Of course most of the high performance tires don't last long, you have to find out how many tires you are willing to buy.
