Recommened performance tires for stock 18" wheels
Just what the topic says. I noticed the rear tires on my car are wearing unevenly and completely shot. The fronts look ok and have about 60% tread on them and are wearing fine.
Can anyone recommend me a nice set of performance tires for the stock 18" wheels? Is it ok if I just replace the rears now and the fronts a month or so later? I'll try to get them through Tire Rack, but I need them IMMEDIATELY so I might just call some places around here and ask if they're in stock. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! Edit: Of course I know I'll need an alignment and tire rotation in the front, that's no problem. :) |
Ok different question, I have a couple tires in mind. But like I said in my previous post, I only need to change out the rears since the fronts are fine.
As long as I change out both rears, will I have an issue if I have a different set of tires for the rears? |

About the alignment, do yourself a favor and do some reading. i've had my Z for 3 days, and I know from reading (on this site infact) that there is no adjustment for camber or caster on the front or rear. Toe can be adjusted in the front, but shouldn't need to be adjusted until your tierods are shot. Which will be a long time down the road. If the tire shop tries to charge you for alignment, call them out on it. I'm tire shopping right now and they tried to quote me a price with alignment included. I spouted off what I just wrote above, and like magic the charges disappeared. |

I guess I should get a set of wheels with tires on them for the price. Cheapest I could get all 4 tires replaced mounted and balanced here is $1097.82(that's with tax) for Bridgestone Potenza RE050a's. Oh well, that's what you get for owning a sports car. :)
