I damaged up my rim parking
So today I was parallel parking outside my apartment in my 3 week old car and I curbed my rim kinda bad. I did it at night so I can't really tell how bad it is but I am sure it will be noticeable. I knew the day would come since the only parking available is on the street so I am not that upset. But it has gotten me nervous about upgrading my rims. Why should I spend 2500 to 5000 to get new rims if I will eventually screw them up?
I was curious to see if there is anyone else here that deals with the chance of damaging their rims on a daily basis kinda like I do. Do you get your rims repaired once or twice a year? Do you just say screw it and drive with damaged rims? Or are you super careful? I got a feeling if I get new rims I may be getting them repaired once or twice a year. |
Option #1 Park in a garage
Option #2 Learn how to park w/o curbing rims Option #3 Wack it enough that you have to buy new ones, then the car will look new again. |
I know how to drive and park so....no i don't damage them and my car is not garaged!

Replace rims once or twice a year?:icon14:
Just learn to drive. Accidents can happen but if your having them on a daily basis, your driving needs to improve. |

next time use your side mirror to check where your tire is vs the curb. i think that's one of the reasons why nissan gave our Z's the dumbo ears.
as far as the curbage, get it fixed locally if it bothers you. |
I would just be careful or get smaller wheels with thicker rubber, though it will probs look no where near as good as it does now.

i remember in the m35 my mom had a few years back, you could set either side view mirror to automatically aim lower once you put the car in reverse so you could see the curb really well when parallel parking. It was nifty

Back to driving school! The parrallel parking barrells are your friend. |
Looking at it his morning it doesn't look as bad as last night. I am most likely going to wait until spring until I get new wheels. Hopefully my parking skills will improve by then.

yah, the side walls have rim protection on the sport package wheels/tire set so unless you really suck at driving you shouldn't get any scuffs from a light scrub.
|
lols.. if you know you cant stop yourself from curbing, then by all means do not buy expensive wheels. You could always get one of those bumper things they use for the bad bowlers... :icon17:

i know that feeling ...

It stinks to damage wheels, but I want you to know I am here for you if you feel the pain will go away by buying new wheels hahaha. Let me know if you need anything, we have a new brand coming, and the pricing is WONDERFUL.

lol Thanks for the support Chris. I think overtime my pain may ease. If not I may have to take you up on your offer.
