just sucks that the RE-71 doesn't run bigger than a 275

That's what I meant to say about the discontinuation. They stopped making 305s so I had to search for the original RE-11.

but i will most likely be going with RE-11s again since there's no 265/305 combo to run.

Depends on what you want...street tire that grips pretty well or race tire that can be streetable?
IMO the RE-11 was never a true "extreme performance" tire. I've always thought of it as a max performance tire along with the PSS. Looks like Tirerack finally threw up the initial tests of the RE-71r and it looks like it's a far superior tire to the RE-11. Also, for those running 275/305 or similar, I think this tire run 275 square would grip a lot better than the RE-11 would at 275/305. Compound is more important than size for the most part, since friction is independent of surface area and width is only there for wear and heat expulsion/retention . Plus with 275/275 you get the added benefit of running square to greatly reduce the understeer issue

after seeing the tests of the RE-71R I was thinking about dropping back to OEM 245/275 setup to try them.
but the 265/305 RE-11's im currently running felt so good it's gonna be hard to step away from.

If anything I'd go for the 275/275 square setup. Far less understeer and the car feels more ready to turn. By the looks of it it'll be a comparable tire to the direzza Z2 SS or Ventus RS3, so you know it'll grip hard

i'm on stock sport Rays and I love them. thank you for the idea and insight though the tread pattern on the RE-71 is almost identical to the Star spec 2 it seems.

Yeah, everyone is going to this minimalist tread pattern to allow for longer treadwear with a softer compound

it's a thought for later. my current RE-11s still got some life. my plan is to see if they'll last until zdayz and then put fresh rubber on for the dragon

275's aren't a bit much for the front. I run 285 square. You need to get 305 square or go home

I second the 285 square though...Rivals come in that size and those are pretty solid tires

my 265/35 and 305/30 are 26.3 diameter for both. sidenote the RE-11 only comes in 265/35 so no need to question what you need its what you'll get lol
