Question..

Has anyone changed just their rear tires? Just was about to start washing the car and thought i might check my treads and their just about gone! I have 11,000 miles on the car and have springs, spacers, and camber kit installed at 7,000 miles. So im looking for a set just for the rear since i have plenty of tread on the fronts. Should i just buy another set of Potenza or is there a good set that can co-exist with the fronts?
thanks:tiphat:

You can use different brand tires if you want but the biggest difference might be felt in rain due to different channel designs.

On my G I'm running RE050A PP's fronts and S03's on the rear, staggered. Runs fine. I'm just using up the last pair of S03's I had. Next time I'm getting the RE050A's to match the fronts.

This member had a set of tire for sale, but I'm not sure if he ship's.

Use Tire Rack to get started. You could even go wider with 305's if you want. Using the same type of tires all around is best, but using different tires for the rear is acceptable. Just remember that there will be traction differences between new and old tires. Go easy the 1st hundred or so miles. Good luck!

thanks but doesnt look like hes going to ship. I just really dont want to change the fronts since they have so much tread on the them still but i guess i have to consider it. I wouldnt mind going with a 305 rear but im not sure if it will look too beefy if i stay stock in the front..

Might as well get a new set. Unless you plan on getting new wheels in the next 5k-10kmile future.

I would definitely try the sumitomo HTRZ III (has reinforced inner tread belts like the RE050A's for cars running a lot of neg camber like ours) at TireRack for on the budget high perf tire. :)

they dont have the right sizes for the rears..

looks im going to go with Hankook's v12 and beef it up to a 285. Some members have these with the stock fronts and have no complaints!
