Upgrading Tires for Stock 18"s
Hey guys, quick question. I'm thinking of upgrading my tires from yokohama (stock) to Hankook V12's. I'd like to keep the wheels, but plus up the tire size. Here's what i'm thinking about, let me know if you believe I will have any issues.
Front: 245/45/18 (current 225/50/18) Rear: 275/40/18 (current 245/45/18) So will the bigger tires fit on oem stock 18" rims and will they look fine? Appreciate your two cents. Thanks. Mike |

I kept the 18 size when I bought new wheels but just increased the width to Front 9" and Rear 10". The tires fit perfect. |

So what is the widest we can go on stock 18's without looking wrong? I don't know what bubble effect looks like, but I prob won't like it. I just bougtht a Z and the stock wheels look better in person than they do in the pics, so I may just get slightly wider tires and spacers to get the look right. Just need to know how big I can go.

Those sizes will fit just fine. I have that set-up.
Also, going with the Hankook V12's isn't really an "upgrade." Price isn't everything, but the Hankooks are almost half the price of the Advans. That's why most people choose them. Relativelly good tires that won't empty your wallet. If price isn't an issue, RE-11's are top notch. Example: 245/45/18 245 is the Section Width in mm. (unmounted) 45 is the Aspect Ration (ratio between sidewall height and Section Width) 18 is Wheel Diameter in inches

Other Options for Rear: 265/40R18 or 255/45R18 for the rear. Just note that these sizes have a slightly larger overall diameter (1.2-1.3% difference). Translates to less than 1mph difference on the speedo. Tire Size Calculator

Anyone know the offset on the stock 18's? Just trying to understand the numbers before I buy a set of wheels. I'm looking at Drag DR-37's and they have a number of offsets, I'm just trying to understand if that is just a function of wider widths, or aesthetics. Also we have the 5-114.3 hole pattern?
