They said I had a better chance of hitting the lottery.

I had a nail in my tire a few weeks ago and went and got it patched...yesterday my tpms went off again. I checked tire pressure and it was the same tire that was low so I thought either it was another nail or they screwed up patching it.

I took it into the same tire shop and instead found this:

They said since it went through the same patch and they couldn't re-patch. :shakes head: Kept telling me I had a better chance hitting the lottery (even though I don't think they actually did any mathematical equations to come to this conclusion). They quoted me $255 for another OEM tire. I just told them to throw the spare on.

If I'm going to be purchasing a rear tire for that kinda money when the rest already have 7k miles on them I'm thinking of just replacing both rears with wider tires.

Any suggestions with the same wall height for the Enkei 18"s?

I'd find a better tire shop. They should pull off the old patch and re-patch. They're just lazy or incompetent or both and just want to sell you a tire.

Wow what luck time to go buy a lotto!

The first penetration could have been a sharp nail, and that yields a different type of tire damage to various belts/cords within the tire. This penetration was brutal to the belts/cords within and too close for comfort. The tire shop was correct in not patching it; they also have the law to contend with if they did fix this again.

I actually took your advice, went got the tire back from them, literally drove across the street and the tire shop across the street patched it by injecting it with tire compound and what looked like melted compound on top.

I know it's probably not something I want to be on the track with but it's better than unexpectedly spending $600 on tires right now, especially with all that tread still on it. :ughdance:

Everyone has been baffled at the chances of that happening though, I still can't believe it. The second tire shop I went to the guy was like "how the hell did you manage that?!"

The closest that I've come were two flats in exactly the same tread a week apart about a foot from each other. The shop showed me that it was in two different places because I didn't believe them. Glad you got yours fixed.

I just put 275/40/18 on my stock Enkie. I can take pictures if you want. Looks way better than the 245's. It's the widest you can go on this rim. Adds about an inch in width. Guess it was the Z's way of saying she wanted new tires.

Tire rack has the Advan Sports for $229. Use the link in the marketplace so the forum gets some rep.
