Powerdercoat stock rims?

I just ordered a 370z base + sport in Graphite gray (or whatever its called) I love the stock rims but I think it would look great in flat back against the graphite grey. How hard would it be to powerdercoat the rims?

^^ it's really not hard to powdercoat the rims....it has been done on the G37 rims...and it looks good...if you pick a good colour

also, it's called Platinum Graphite...lol

I'e been thinking about the same thing for a while. I have the same color Z as you. I would go with a black with more of a sateen finish. Look at the matte black volks. They still have a sheen to them (and it looks damn good) like a semi-gloss type paint would.

Just food for thought.

this is something i plan on doing while i save up for aftermarket ones. i plan of going gunmetal though

You should think long and hard about the safety risk with powdercoating forged wheels. There have been a few instances where 06+ 350z wheels have cracked after being powdercoated where too much heat is used. Paint may be a better option, and it's easier to repair if it gets nicked.

^Are you kidding? That's absurd. First of all I can't see a forged wheel being affected by 400F temps in any significant way. Second, paint scratches with road debris, but the test of a good powdercoat is to scratch it with a nickel, if it leaves a mark the coat is too soft and should be done again. How many OE and aftermarket wheels are powdercoated? I would say a good 80%. If it weakens the wheels so much why do Volk and HRE do it?

I was thinking of doing the same thing when I get the Z, but do you guys think the black wheels looks a little weird with the silver door handles? I know it has been done before as tons of Z owners have black wheels, but to me it just looks a little out of place having three colors on your car. For example, a platinum graphite car, silver door handles and then black rims!

I think you're overthinking it a little bit, just got for it man

The stock wheels would look great if powder coated them the right color.
You shouldn't be paying too much to get them done.

Go for it man:tup:

Place by my work quoted me $300 for all 4 wheels, 3-4 day turn around.
Here is a Photoshop I did, also lowered a bit and tinted windows.

^ YES! PG and flat black wheels is perfect. I swear the Nissan designers made this car to be lowered. The knife edge fender lips evidence that.

I was thinking of pulling the Nissan logos and door handles and doing them in black as well.

those + spacers + some drop and ur set. except on a JDM car it's hard to resist the Advan's or Volks :D

my only problem with powder coating which i been wanting to do on my own car for 11 months now, is i cannot drive the car for a few days or a week or have to borrow someone's wheels
