Noob question
Im not a complete noob mechanically, but as far as wheels are concerned I am. I hear about spacers and offset and the like and just have no clue what people are talking about - but supposedly these give you a good look.
Could somebody dummy it down for me? Every search just results in threads where people post what offsets theyre running or that they just got spacers etc. but no good definition. It would be awesome if somebody could show me an image of the Z before and after spacers. And last, how much $$ do they run?

yeah alot of questions got answered in that thread. I am actually going alot more aggressive than anything I posted in that thread! Camber will be my friend for sure
to put it in the avg joe terms. If you want a flush look to your wheels you need to lower the offset. (Offset is the distance of the face of the wheel from center line) if you have a + number then the face is closer to the outside of the wheel and you have more wheel closer to your suspension then to the outside of your fender. It is just the opposite for - offset. What spacers do is artificially create a - offset situation by pushing the wheel and wheel face further away from the suspension. My thread as posted in here will show you the possibilities that our cars can take. I hope this helps

Got it got it. And what do spacers typically go for? This something I can install myself?

Spacers are fairly easy to install, there are two types. One are bolt on top of the existing lugs and the other have stud replacements. Just require you taking off the wheels, if you do stub replacements for the rear wheels you will have to deal with the parking brake but I believe there is a DIY on the forum here.
