Not sure why that would be expected when only replacing two tires... It should make no difference

Well, you should always run matching sets all around. If you mix and match you end up running into handling issues. A lot of weird things can happen when you run one set of tires up front and a different set out back.

I.E. my rear 2 tires go bald and I replace the stock Yokohama's with Hankook's. Yoko's on the front and Hankook's in the rear. To the average Joe (read:me), that seems perfectly fine, especially if my fronts are good for another 5-10k miles (mine are wearing evenly, so it's moot to me).

Obviously they won't have the same tread, compound, different characteristics in different weather, etc. Your handling will be worse and braking will probably suffer too. Don't get me wrong, it's not like you will spin out into a tree the moment you go over 40mph, but you are hampering performance and a bit of safety IMO.

Tires feeling better after 1000 miles. They grip really well. I've gotten used to the Soft sidewall but wish they were stiffer. Very good tires and would be even better if they were stiffer.

Love these tires!
Thanks to all of you who bought these tires and have commented on their performance/characteristics. I had these installed three days ago to replace the worn out 050's (15,xxx miles). What a difference these tires have made to the car! Leaving tomorrow morning and heading for the Blue Ridge Parkway/ Deals Gap/Cherohala Skyway roller coaster. It only took The Tire Rack two days to deliver my tires (standard UPS). Very happy w/ this purchase. One thing I'd like to pass on is that two of my wheel locks broke and the other two had a slight rust ring around the top third of the nut. These nuts had a straight shaft and the replacements from Nissan had a thick flange. Glad my installer was able to remove them. I would hate to have to deal w/ that on the side of the road.

I think he meant when replacing just the rears - you seemed to agree earlier in the thread.
