I took my brother on a ride, was only able to get up to 55ish with him in the car due to traffic. But he said he felt no vibrations, even held the steering wheel for a minute or so. Over 75 im still feeling something. Ill test it again with another passenger at higher speeds.

Technically it could just be the road i drive to work and back on.

I can't off the top of my head remember the designation for the type I have, but they required that I change out the lugs to correspondingly longer lugs so that the amount of lug protuding from the spacer is the same as stock. They are not the bolt on type. They are also hubcentric, which was very important to me. I am using 15mm in front and 20mm in back. I purchased them from Stillen.

The Discount Tire that mounted my tires last month was very hesitant to touch my car because of the spacers until they saw that they were first rate, hubcentric and used the longer lugs. I highly recommend the H&R's if you are looking at spacers.

AZ

And how do they compare to the Yokohama S-Drives?

100% incorrect, as several unbiased tire test have confirmed. If you want to spend an extra $600+ more power to you, but stop the BS.

You have your BS and I have mine. People who have run the tires I mentioned know exactly what they are paying for.

Yeah, these tires are not made for the track or for any real "serious" driving. The sidewalls are very mushy, and they lose a lot of traction once you get the temps up a high amount.

I still like them for the money, and as long as I get track dedicated rims, I'll continue to get these for DD.

i'd get the Yok S-Drives over this...

cossie1600 09-20-2010 03:52 PM

they are good for daily driver to putt around in, but they are marginal at best under any track or autox use.

from what i've read, you don't feel vibration in the steering wheel from issues with rear wheels/tires like balancing issues etc.

I will soon test that statement.

I know and understand where your coming from. Dedicated track rims and tires are the best combo and probably cost effective in the long run. For DD they are very good, but as you mentioned when getting serious they get soft and let go. What kind of mileage do you expect out of them?

I'm expecting around 20-25k, which I think is reasonable. Time will tell, but I'm not too worried about it given the costs.

I will be doing my first track event on them probably, so I'm sure that will eat into their life a good deal.

Yeah, I'll take the word of some random internet clown over actual road tests conducted by actual car people (journalists, racers etc) any day! :bowrofl:

I "seriously" drive these tires all the time. I "seriously" drove my stock tires below the wear bars at just over 11k miles. I don't track them so I cannot comment there.

I do wonder though, if these tires were slapped with a $400 per tire price tag how many would worship them?

Oh brother, don't take such offense. It's not like I molested your cat or something.
