Back from the mountains!
Just wanted to update my experience w/ these tires. Drove @ 1,300 miles and was impressed w/ the compliant ride. It really helped to keep the car planted through mid-corner bumps and rough pavement. I do have some criticims, though. I noticed a slight vibration that increased w/ speed (may be a wheel balance issue). I am susceptible to motion sickness, but have not been afflicted when I was driving until now. Made it about 1/2 way through the Dragon and had to pull over. The added sway from the soft sidewall was just too much on this road. Sat down on a pull-off for about twenty minutes and took it somewhat easy until I saw the Killboy crew. Had to get on it a little. The tires performed really well on the somewhat relaxed curves of the Cherohala and the Blue Ridge Parkway. I could feel a little more roll compared to the 050's. Was on these same roads last spring when the car had @ 2,000 miles and was very impressed by how it just railed.

so the sidewalls are really that weak?
|
Weaker sidewall than the stockers but not thaaat bad. I just went on a mountain run a couple of weeks ago and I can identify with nuts4nissan.
One thing is I didnt try the tires with stock suspension since im on KWV3s. Since I have had more miles on the hankooks, they are more predictable and I am more comfortable with the sidewall roll. Its something to get used to but really isnt too bad after a while. Very good street tire especially for the price, cant wait to see how good they are in the wet. No regrets I do want to try re-11's next time though. |
Anybody have steering wheel shake with these tires? I've had them balanced 3 different times, on two different machines (Hunter Road force) and two sets of wheels. I have very slight vibration at 65mph that I just can't get rid of. I am also using centering rings.
I'm trying to not drive the car until I get this sorted. My next balance is going to be an "on the car" balance in Long Beach. This is something that really bugs the **** out of me, and I don't want my ball joints wearing prematurely. My stockers were smooth. |

Tire vibration!

They seem to have more initial bite than my stock Yoko Advan Sports (could be the larger contact patch since I went wider) but they seem to not hold quite as much. They are more noisy for sure but in this one turn I take almost daily I can only push to about 61/62 until I start getting some obvious push and a have even oversteered a smidge. On my Yokos I could easily manage another 5mph or so.

I'm still going to take it in for on the car balancing. |
Just had some downpours and my Hankooks performed very well in the rain. I'm talking flash floods, real rain. Even got on it a little bit to do some "testing" :driving:

but yes V12's held up nice. i was guna make a side wall comment until i saw what was above. i agree the side walls look and feel weak. kinda concerns me if i get a lil rear end happy and break it loose too often... since thats how i cut my yokos.... grrrr |
I was definitely impressed by the V12s wet weather performance!

You get exactly what you pay for when it comes to tires. Advan 08, Re-11R, PS2 & 3, Toyo Proxes line and Corsa's. Everything else besides R rubber is inferior to the aforementioned tires, in every performance aspect, especially sidewall.
