TPMS in Aftermarket wheels

43rs, i would keep my 19's for a winter setup, but a 19" winter set up is going to be expensive in terms of tires.... no?


Thanks AK, i think i will go that route. With that in mind, i think i'll probably end up just buying new ones for my new wheels (For summer/Fall), and once i dismount the old wheels i'll have them remove the tpms and then save those for my winter setup.

Phelan, i'd love to do that... unfortunately i have about a 2 week timeframe before i HAVE to have these in order to send them to the wheel store so they can mount and balance them with them.

When i look at the TPMS for the Z on tire rack, it offers me the sensors for 396 ( i guess they went up in price) and then this ATEQ TPMS reset tool for another 135. does this actually work on the Z? did anyone get this thing?

AK i just saw your whole thread about the ATEQ tool. i sent them an email to ask if they have updated the software yet.

When I put my aftermarket rims on I did get new sensors. I got them cheap through Ebay. I didn't want to have the labor charge of taking the old ones out of my factory rims. I had them programmed at my local dealership and they work perfect. My recommendation is to get them. Who wants a light on all the time. People say after awhile they don't notice it but still.

I haven't priced out the winter tires yet but isn't everything relating to this car expensive? Also my stocks are the 18" wheels so they might be a tiny bit cheaper. I plan on only putting snow tires on the rears and then some all seasons on the fronts, unless someone can convince me that I should do snows on all 4.

definitely snows on all four. and 18's is the winter set up i'm going to do. But yea... all four snow tires. Tire rack has a whole article on why.

a company called Schrader is the manufacturer of the oem ones i believe. Tire rack sells the oem sensors for 99 dollars each.

Update: the ATEQ sensor STILL does not work for our 2009/2010 Z's supposedly the update is coming in the summer.

I don't think my wheels has the sensors and I don't have any form of error or warning.

I got the Advan RS-Ds to replace wheels that were stolen last week. They came in today and the dealer is putting them on right now. They just called me and told me that the stock TPMS won't "fit" on the wheels... is this true?

brining up an older thread... i am planning on getting some SSR's wrapped with new tires but i wont be running TPMS. 2 questions:

1) is the TPMS light on the large screen or is there a small icon in the cluster?
- i like to show ambient temp all the time on the large screen and would be clumsy to scroll screen each time.

2) does the car make audible warniing each time i start the car without TPMS telling me there's something wrong with the TPMS?

1.) It is just a small icon on the side of the large screen. It flashes on start up and eventually it's just a steady light. No warning is flashed on the large screen.

i say the tpms are only worth it if you can get them used for cheaper, like <200. they are 100 each if you get them new, its absurd.

yep, i dont really care about the light because i check psi on my cars regulary...and i can tell when the tires are getting squashy (lower psi) from the response.
