i have this hairbrained scheme about going 19"FR and 20"rear. I also want to run some serious rubber, but so far the closest i can come in terms of diameter, and keeping sidewall more or less the same, is 3.1% difference FR>RR (285/30r19 FR | 335/25r20 RR). my preferred tire selection would actually put it at about a 3.4% difference (285/30r19 FR | 345/25r20 RR), which i expect would definitely cause weirdness. obviously a wonky traction control system makes the idea a no-go. edit: there are other tire choices that come closer, but i was hoping to run some 325+ on the RR. however, i like the sidewalls/diameter sizes of some of the narrower options. Factory Diameter setup's are 325/30/19R & 275/35/19F ,The Michelin PSS tires are probably some of the widest tread ones. "Rusty" has that Bad-Azz look!!! i was thinking Pro-Street look 345/30/19R & 255/40/19F MPSS on 8.5 & 12" Forgelines. or 295/35/19F on 10"wide wheel. PS...."Rusty" also has unlimited funds!

Last night after spending some time with tire calculators and searching TireRack I also came across an alternative 275/35r19 FR | 305/30r20 on regular PSSs that would work better (2.2% diff FR>RR) and also fill the fender wells more (i.e. larger diameter than the wider ZPs mentioned). This option wouldn't create any problems with the TCS, but I lose width in the rear. It also has the advantage of being the same width as RS3 tires I will run as track tires. So the 275/305 setup is currently my top choice if i decide to go 19/20. I expect the narrower rear tire won't have a major impact on traction. So, the only thing I lose is my spot in the "370z Wide Tire Hall of Fame", next to Rusty. ![]() Last edited by AntiVenom; 07-29-2015 at 07:09 AM. |
