My goal has been to expand what people think is possible for wheel fitment. If you dig through early pages of some of these wheel threads, you get a laughably limited view of what can fit.
If I had told them that i'm running 20x11, +15 and 20x12, +20, these early Z posters heads would likely explode. It's 2017 - the tuning world is tremendously diverse now. I hate to see people stuck in the past, applying old principles that they took from their MkII golf or C5 corvette and using it to put a ceiling on what you can do on a Z. Not every style is for everyone, but i try to take a practical view on things. Let's be honest: few of us here are race car drivers, none of us should be doing that crap on the street No one drives on drag radials to go to the supermarket, using that as a guideline for wheel fitment is ridiculous to me. Clinging to principles that are 100% function is only good for bench racing - if you aren't ON a track, let's not pretend. The folks that DO go to the track hardcore run through multiple sets of tires, rotors, pads anyways. Why am I running 20x11 +15 front? I'll be perfectly blunt. I wanted face-4, the maximum amount of concavity for the TE37 ultra. 20x10.5, +24 gets you that, but changes the depth of the disc mounting service and i wanted it to be uniform on all 4 corners. I am much farther down the flush spectrum than most folks, but i'm not comfortable with the VIP/drift style of -7 camber and rim-kissing-fender; i also don't despite the sunken battleship fitment of jhammond. I picked what i like, my balance between the two ends of the spectrum. I'm still fitting more rubber than most people here, and its 30mm more than what nismo comes with on all 4 corners. So do whatever you want to your car, its yours. Just don't think there's only one way to do it, and don't limit whats possible. like ive said repeatedly, now that the SPL FUCA is available, there is basically nothing you can't fit in front. The only question is how much time/effort you're willing to put into it. |

I'm not sure how much more opposite you can be to what i like. Automatic, silver, red wheels, bulbous fitment.
but u do u |

EDIT:
I'm really not gonna argue. You guys like what you like. It's different than what I like, and I think its woefully antiquated, but they're your cars. I am quite happy with mine. |

I'm on -2 camber all around. 19x9 +12 fronts on 275/35/19 RS3. Rears are 19x11 +18 on 305/30/19 RS3s. Happy so far, as I thought I had to go -2.5 or so. |
Yahoo, new rims are at the port in California. 19x10 +29 front and 19x11.5 +30 rear.

Do you not watch racing of any form? Every race car in the current era uses properly sized tires and wheels, by the virtue of regulations, and by actual handling physics. Hell even look at Formula drift where the style you follow was essentially born. No one in the pro series pulling off 100mph drifts use stretched tires and high degrees of camber to fit wheels. There are zero cars in the modern era from factory or in racing that follows your standpoint. I don't see why you have to belittle it just because you don't like it or find it boring. Your car looks mean and aggressive, has nothing to do with likes. But you even admitted it was a bit aggressive and not for everyone. You said this several times actually. |
Do you think by typing more you're accomplishing something?
You don't need to justify your style to me, i'm not that special. I just like my wheel fitment a certain way and don't like how others do it. It's not the end of the world. I would happily tell Rusty i think his wheels look stupid to his face, buy him a beer to celebrate that we both drive Z's, and smile because the world will keep spinning. Your typing more words really won't affect any of that. Seriously dude. It's cool. Move on. |

Fortunately, I daily drive a bone stock IS300 and leave the Z in the garage until I need to drive to a parking lot and look cool in front of the coffee shop. The scraping is why I don't have a lip yet. I'm just gonna factor in the cost of a cup-kit system into the price of the carbon signal lip kit and consider it a $3000 purchase that i'm not gonna make anytime soon. |

Thoughts?

Hey guys! Looking for a winter wheel/blizzak,x-ice setup for winter and came across these rims on CL. I'm terrible when it comes to calculating offsets and fitment, so just wondering about your thoughts on these. The spoke pattern appears that it should clear the BBK, so I'm basically just wondering on how these offsets would look/perform during the winter. Looking to do square setup for rotating purposes. Asking price is $500 and are new in box.

MPLS_Z,
You may get by; if you don’t go huge on width or diameter tire. Outer rim lips will sit 34mm further out on front vs. a 9” Sport wheel & 20mm further out than a 9.5” Nismo (if that helps any). |
can i use 245/40 on a 19x8.5 +20 wheel for the front?

I found something different that I like better and are on sale right now, as long as 11mm more poke on the fronts is not going to be a problem. I decided on not going square, and will just do a staggered setup for now, UNLESS it would not look incredibly bad with the 18x8.75 et 33 all around (rear rim sucked in 19mm). Could run a 235 X-Ice with that? XXR 530 F: 18 x 8.75 et 33 R: 18 x 9.75 et 20 |

Might be the wrong thread for this but...
I'll be getting some better tires for my Z to go along with my BP turbo. I'm a little worried these will rub in the rear. They're 305/45R18 29" Diameter. Anyone have a clue? http://www.the370z.com/members/james...ac49a5ff02.jpg |

Hey James, I have Nitto's NT05Rs in that size and they fit with no rubbing on a 18x11 wheel. I would not try them on anything less than a 10.5" wheel. You will need a tall front tire within a 0.5" height of the rears.
