Nismo Wheels in Matt Black

Here are my factory Nismo wheels powder coated in Matt Black (20% Gloss) I'm running 15mm spacers front and rear, with 305/30/19 and 255/35/19 Hankook Ventus V12 tires.

This is the 2nd time I had them done, originally I had them done in a metallic gray but the first powder coater did not chemically strip them or blast them at all. They applied the powder directly over the factory coating and needless to say it peeled right off.

This time I had them done at a place that Berk recommended, and they did a really great job, the finish is excellent and the service was top notch.

Here are the pics:

We do a LOT of wheel powdercoating in this color. I have always liked it.

I think these wheels look very good on the car this color.

i like this MUCH better than the last color...great that it eventually worked and for the better!

Jjaden 03-29-2010 12:20 PM

Looks great. You have me excited.

I'm having my stock Rays done the same colour this week, and having them mounted on Thursday now that the weather is finally good enough to take off the winter Wheels/Tires.

ZPirate 03-29-2010 12:27 PM

Wow! Those look nice. Just enough gloss to not make them look too dull.

stormcrow 03-29-2010 12:37 PM

ZING! Very nice, man. They turned out spectacular! I wasn't sure I would like the black on this color over the more graphite grey, but I was wrong. Superb choice. And whomever gave you the idea for those offsets...well, they are the coolest! ;)

mjch3n 03-29-2010 12:59 PM

Looks sick, i like the black more than the grey last time. the spacers push out the wheels perfectly as well.

Yeah, Eibach springs. The lower profile tires tend to give it a bit more gap. I want it about another 1/2 lower, so I'm looking into coilovers right now
Although I will have to remove the front splitter and wheel deflectors, since they rub all the time now.

m4a1mustang 03-29-2010 08:11 PM

That looks hot!!!

mattjk 03-29-2010 09:47 PM

Looks great! I think the ride height is perfect as well.

AK370Z 03-29-2010 09:49 PM

VERY VERY Nice man! I love it. Those Nismo rims are fantastic looking. Just out of curiousity, are they (Nismo rims) lighter than the sports pack RAYS? Because I know sports package RAYS are super lightweight to begin with.

Do you know which coilover? BC?

nuTinmuch 03-29-2010 11:56 PM

That is sick as hell.

I am jealous.

tjlazer 03-30-2010 12:34 AM

Yeah the Nismo wheels are like ~6 Lbs lighter front, and ~3 rear. (both)

schrack150 03-30-2010 01:02 AM

looks good!

Rear: Sport Wheel = 23.8lbs | Nismo = 23.0lbs
Front: Sport Wheel= 23.2lbs | Nismo = 20.7lbs

They save weight while still adding a 1/2 in width

Yes, I am considering the BC, as well as the Stance, KW, & HKS.

G Fo12ce 03-30-2010 12:29 PM

They look tight. I'm liking the black better on your color, nice job.

Jeffblue 03-30-2010 12:44 PM

that black looks great on your car. nice job

fatcat777 03-30-2010 12:52 PM

came out looking very good.

Nick911sc 03-31-2010 01:42 PM

I have to say, I'm extremely jealous. This setup looks beautiful!

Chris_1 03-31-2010 02:07 PM

Those look real good, I gotta say that the Nismo wheels really are one of the best factory wheels available, besides the sport pack ones. I havent loved a factory wheel, for a very long time from any manufacturer. How are you liking the tires, we have gotten very good feedback about them.

Did the other company reimburse you for their failures?

I really like your ride height now, man. It's tasteful. Me, personally, I wouldn't go lower, unless if you're tracking your car. But to each their own. Whatever you decide to do, I'm sure it'll look good regardless.

Endgame 03-31-2010 09:56 PM

Yeah, I agree, I usually don't like the factory wheels either, but Nissan/Rays did a great job. so far Hankooks are treating me good, Not sure I notice any less performance compared to the stock Bridgestones. Improved wet/rain for sure, dry is about the same. I would definitely buy them again for that price.

Well, they didn't reimburse me for the installation on the tires, but they did give me 100% of my money back on the powder job, so that worked for me.

I know what you mean, I like it too look tasteful and be functional as well.
After installing the lower profile tires it created a bit more fender gap. I thought it was good when I originally installed the Eibachs with the stock tires. Maybe it just needs to come down about another 5-8mm.
