Tire Problem

It was only the passenger side rear tire---all other three were fine. A pound a week pressure loss---Wow. Since the car has spent most of the 3 months since delivery parked in a chilly garage, I'll proceed on that theory, inflate and see. If it goes down again, then I take it from the responses that I DO go to the Nissan warranty service department for possible coverage.

They don't always lose pressure evenly, but it's definitely something that you need to keep an eye on. You'd be surprised at how many people are driving on under inflated tires... I bet it's more than 75% of people on the road!

Nissan does not warranty tires. Read you warranty booklet. There is a 90% chance you have a nail in it with the resulting slow leak. This is a job for a tire store, not a dealership service dept. Get the wheel off the ground, rotate and inspect carefully if you want to check it yourself.

BTW, Anytime I've ever gotten a TPMS warning the above situation has been the reason..

Indeed. But if you never check the tire pressure the TPMS will go off eventually.

Pressures need to be checked regularly (cold) with a quality gauge..

Yup. Once a month at minimum, but IMO it should become part of your Saturday morning routine.

There is a 99% chance there is NO nail and that this is due to everyday normal driving.

I've been driving my car daily since late October and my tires are still 1-2 psi off from normal. I drove my Scion tC for almost 3 years and only added air twice to 3 of the tires (1 tire routinely, slowly leaked air, for whatever reason).

Perhaps I'm lucky though.
