Learned how to take my tire off today-Screwed?
My tire pressure light went on yesterday...Decided I should try and see what was wrong with my tire. After wondering where the heck the wheel lock was..and finding it exactly where it is supposed to be I guess (with the spare tire?) I found the culprit. I think it can be fixed/patched? But made me sad to see my ZEE out of commission. It wasn't near the sidewall so I guess that is good. When I stopped at the gas station I had 14 lbs of air pressure? yikes..
Happy to report my car didn't fall off the jack thingy either. I was a bit worried. LOL Gives new meaning to getting scr**ed, huh?

just plug it. no issue. if you're anal get it done at a tire store where they plug from the inside out...BUT be warned some shops will scratch your wheel lip using improper equipment.
i just use the cheezo plugs they sell at autoparts stores. i use rubber cement just in case but otherwise just follow the directions. very easy 5min fix. they actually work fine and some of my buddies even autox with them over and over with no issue. |

TPMS is a beautiful thing, TamZ. Sorry to see the screw (amazing how many of those little buggers are out there lurking), happened twice to me last year, once in the SUV and once on a motorcycle

Yes..Because honestly, if the light hadn't lit up on the dash, I wouldn't have known..possibly until it went completely flat and I ruined a wheel!? My husband came home (scolded me for jacking up my car unsupervised) and now has the wheel down to the local tire shop. All should end well! That was probably scary on the motorycle!

well heck, since your handing out reps, I should mention I used to ride a bike myself back in the day. LOL. Husband had a GSXR and I had a Ninja 600R. This was pre-children, when I wasn't as worried about staying alive

TPMS is fantastic. Yes, you can just repair ("plug it") without any issues. I have a plug in my right rear tire. Almost 8 months now - no air loss, no problem. They charge anywhere from $8-$15

I'm thankful for that TPMS for sure...It would NOT have been good if I had been cruising along, with my music a bit loud..and not realizing I was grinding my wheel against the road if I had gone completely flat!

Here's the quick fix method. Drain all air from the tire, remove the screw and add some sealant to the threads. Reinstall the screw and tighten. Let the sealant set before re-inflating. Then take it to the tire shop and get it fixed properly.

Yup I would have liked to have had TPMS on my STi. I had my sidewall literally explode at 90mph. The tire had run flat but the sidewalls were so stiff I could barely tell. Just felt like a rough patch of road. Built up so much heat that it blew a 6" chunk out of the sidewall
Good thing you caught this |
