Yeah, it sucks, kind of took the fun out of my new wheel install
I'll probably take the wheel back on Monday. I did manage to make it over to the Cerritos meet, although very late, was still fun to hang out with everyone. I'll try to get some better shots (not camera phone) in the daytime.

This place was actually on the high side, I went with them because they were open 24hrs, thought they had a pretty good reputation. I guess you can never tell.

that is definitely an undercure issue. completely stripping or just scuffing the wheels before coating really doesn't make a difference. I have a set of track wheels for my corvette that I did zero prep to just to see how they would turn out and hold up. Just took them out of the box and coated over the factory paint, and they went through several tire changes without a problem.
Yours however, are definitely not fully cured. The first set of wheels I ever did for a friend had that same problem, and I learned they take a good amount of time to come up to temperature, so they have to cure a little longer than most things.

My big concern is that the other rims will start to do it I'm not sure if I feel comfortable taking all of them back to this place again, kind of like sending food back to the chef. I might see if I can get my money back, or at least for the one rim, and just take them to another place. To be honest, I'm not real happy with the color either, but that's not there fault, I actually had a sample that was labeled Cardinal GR-02 from another place.Turns out it wasn't GR-02, the GR-02 has a slight blue metallic in in it, which is what I didn't want. They did it the right color, the sample I had was labeled incorrectly from the other place, so I got pooched either way.

I think PG is a very hard color to match wheels to. they definitely look too blue in those higher res pics. I think matte black is the way to go with PG. this might work out well for you, get them all redone for no charge in a new color. I've had motorcycle wheels and frames powdercoated and it's virtually indestructible. my stuff was prepped with a media blast. I guess mike says it doesn't matter, but I surely would feel better about the new finish biting into clean metal.

prep is improtant, but more for cleanliness. All things considered, I still prefer freshly blasted wheels myself, but most people don't want to pay the extra 40 per wheel that I have to pay the blasting shop, so I usually don't do that. I actually wetsand the original finish with a sanding block and soapy water to prep them.
There is a chance the others may do it to. Since they are using a conveyer system, it seems like it would be logical that they all went into the oven one after another and cured for the same amount of time. They need to cure for a minimum of 20 minutes after the metal comes up to the 400 degree temperature, so for a wheel, its typically about an hour and a half that I have them in the oven.
