NO, that's what they wanted to charge me too but I told them I spoke to someone 2 weeks ago and they quoted me $53! (they actually did). labor rate should be half an hour NOT 1 hour. I paid $53. I mean some of our member even gets it done free of charge. Courtesy of the dealer. Tell your dealer this and see how they react. It's a freakin' 5 minute job

It's a great idea and dont see why it wouldn't work for us.

does anyone know if there are any bad effects of removing the tpms? how about if the unit is defective and causes the warning light to go off even though pressures are ok? will that somehow affect anything else on the car?

I've done this. I have two sets of wheels, one for track, the other DD. The "TPMS" light went on when I put the track set on. I have TPMS sensors in the track set but they are not recognized. I drove for about 3 days to wear the mold release off the track tires and when I put the DD set on after rolling about 1 mile the light went out.

My car did not drive or respond any differently when the TPMS light was on.....(really like the R-comps)

I just got my TPMS reset FREE of charge. This is another dealer from the one I had done last year. First they were gonna charge me $25 dollars but it was so quick and simple, they felt bad.

My Winter Rims/Tires Setup: TRMotorsport C2 + Blizzak LM-25 w/TPMS w/pics (AK370Z)

So, def do not pay $100. BTW, you can read the whole procedure in the link above. Good luck man! My TPMS's are good until November 2010

That blows that you have to bring it to a dealer to reset. My Mini Cooper has the TPMS reset built into the Nav Control panel, really easy 1 minute reset.

Well hopefully, they will do it for FREE from now on. If not, I AM looking into TPMS reset tools. My BMW friends were saying the same. They can reset it from their dash. I just made this statement few post back ...

Good question. Quoting myself above…………..maybe not necessary if the sensor locations remain consistent? The car will drive fine if the light comes on. You could always take it back or to the dealership for the reset.
