Wheels Locks
Can anyone recommend a quality wheel lug nut lock? I have the stock Sport Rays wheels and love em. But don't want to have em stolen either.
|
ask Shariff on here, he has some nice ones i think
aftermarket is a must for wheel locks, Trust me....there will be several ppl that will wake up to their Z's on bricks...happened to soo many ppl with the G37's all nissan/infiniti use the same stock wheel lock, it's as good as a regular wheel lug |

I just called the parts dept at my dealership and asked about them, because mine didn't come with locks either. They said they just got their shipment of wheel locks for the 370 in. $41.95 +tax. I think Nissan locks are the same as McGards too (not sure). I'm just going to swing by the dealership and buy them there, that way I don't have to worry about not ordering the right McGards to fit the wheels.

I got a set when i bought my car. no idea if they are installed or not. but now thinking about if everyone has access to these nissan locks there is no point.
maybe ill just rap a rattle snake around the spokes, and be ok. |
hey Semtex can you find out if all Nissan locks are the same when you get yours. I think it's its pointless if they are. I was looking at these Gorilla Automotive Products - Lug Nuts, Wheel Locks, Auto Security, Wheel Accessories

Not sure what you guys mean by 'all the same'. They all have different key patterns, so it's not like a single wheel lock key will fit with all Nissan wheel locks. Oh, and they are in fact McGards. Having said that, I made the trip to the dealership and looked at the locks (which is how I know they're McGards) but I did NOT get them. Why? Because the parts guy just handed me a pack of the regular sized wheel locks that fit all Nissans. Here's the thing. I might be wrong on this, but I think the 370Z requires its own specific sized lock. I say this because when I brought my car home, I re-torqued all my lug nuts (I have trust issues with this kind of stuff), and pulled one of them off all the way just to have a look. The lug nuts are huge! Length-wise, that is. They seem to be a lot longer than normal lug nuts. So the regular 'fit all Nissans' size of wheel locks . . . I don't think they'll fit right. They seem too short. Again, I could be wrong, but I left the dealership without them. I have the 19" Rays, btw. I suspect that if you have the 18" wheels that come when you don't have the sport pkg, the regular Nissan locks will work just fine.

i would have to disagree... ^ i have two friends who own nissans and there wheel lock keys are identical to mine..

Okay, regarding what I wrote a couple of posts back about believing that the 370Z requires unique wheel locks and can't just use the standard Nissan wheel locks -- pictures speak a thousand words, right? I pulled off a standard Nissan lug nut from my wife's Murano, then pulled one off from my Z, put them side by side, and took a couple of pics, which are below. The one on the left is from the Murano, the one on the right is from my Z. You can see how different they are, and based on the differences, I wouldn't think that a wheel lock that fits the Murano (i.e. the standard Nissan lock) will also fit the Z -- at least not if you have the 19" Rays wheels.

the nissan wheel locks are as good as regular lugs....it's a total waste of money do you know how many rims were stolen off G's???? save ur headache and buy some decent aftermarket ones |
I can get you a really nice set of locks with a set of our wheels ;)

I called a 2 dealerships in my area, but neither of them had a specific part number for the 370z locks. They both told me that last years 350z locks should fit, but they were not positive. I guess I'll just have to drive over there and pull off one of the lugs to compare.
Anyone else able to get a part number? |
The dealer put locks on my new 370z and they were a Nissan part number and were McGards. They looked very similar to the sizing of the stocks lugs. Your dealer should be able to help you.
