if you decide to use all these cones shaped lugs on the stockers, you will be in trouble...... since pictures say a thousand words...i'll show you the effect of cones shaped lugs on the stock G37 rims......

I know they are not the same lugs, but those are cone shaped....gives you the idea.....


most aftermarket wheels need the cone shaped ones...so dont mix things up by accident

But the stock lugs are cone shaped. Look at the pics I posted of the stock lugs. It's a cone at the tip.

^^ not entirely true, look at where the arrow is pointing...the stockers need that washer to hold it in place...talking about Z's and G's......not Muranos or Rogues

^^ Right, I'm aware of that. In fact, it's why I've been saying that the regular wheel locks that supposedly fit all Nissans won't work for the 370 wheels. So my wheel guy points me to these shank-type wheel locks that do have the washer, and I think cool, we're all set. I just need to order a set of these. At which point Minicobra points out that if you look at the stock lug, it still has the cone seat at the tip, while the McGard lock that my wheel guy pointed me to does not. So it's like these things are a hybrid between conical and shank! So I guess what it boils down to is this. The washer is necessary -- that much is obvious. But what about the cone tip? Is it even relevant? When I went back to my wheel guy and pointed out to him that the stock lugs have a cone tip and the McGard lock he pointed me does not, he said it should still work. In other words, he doesn't think the cone tip really matters. Do you agree with him?

Here's a pic of the McGard locks he recommended. You can see that it has the washers, but they're not conical tips.

You know what? I think my wheel guy might be right about the tip not being relevant. I just noticed something in the pic comparing the Murano lug to the 370 lug. Look closely at the tip of the Murano lug on the left. See all the wear marks? So the tip is obviously making actual contact with the rim. Now look at the tip of the 370 lug. It's clean - there are no wear marks at all, which tells me that it's not actually touching the rim, and all the contact is at the washer.

Bottom line - I've got a set of the shank-style McGards on order. I should have them by Wednesday, and I'll let everyone know if they work or not. I'll be the guinea-pig on this one. ;-) If it does in fact require a tapered tip, then when I try to put the McGards on, they just won't go in all the way. If they go in all the way and I can torque them down smoothly and properly, then we're good to go.

Hey man, I'm just trying to answer the original question that started this entire thread. :rolleyes: The OP wanted to know what wheel locks fit the stock rims. Notice that with after 4 pages of discussion (and we're on 5 now!), there has still been no definitive answer. :icon17: I figure by Wednesday, I'll either be able to supply a solid answer with a part #. Or we'll be back to square one. lol

Well what exactly are you recommending? I mean, the guy wants to know what wheel locks fit the stock rims, so of course we need to figure out the stock lugs. How else would one go about figuring out which wheel lock(s) fits? Are you recommending that everyone just not even bother with it and get replacement rims so that we don't have to deal with figuring out which lock fits the stockers?
