Default Wrong wheels?

I might buy this 2018 touring 370Z (from Carmax) with only 1500 miles however I don't believe these are the factory wheels and tires that were offered that year. Am I correct in that assumption? The Carfax checks out. I think the wheels are pre 2013 and I don't think the car had Falkens as OEM tires. Wondering why a car with such low miles would have this equipment. The car was not sold to the original buyer until 7/19 yet it was built in 2017.....appears to have sat on the dealer lot for about 18 months. It's being shipped here so I haven't seen it in person yet but all the photos indicate what appears to be virtually a brand new car.

Those are Sport Wheels, as I have 2-sets....one for a 2012, other for s 2013....they differ a bit, unsure which ones those are.
I’ll look in a bit, also 2017’ was last year with a wheel like that & I’ve only seen Bridgestone or Yokohama tires from the factory on Z’s

Most likely the owner bought aftermarket wheels and the original wheels. Then decided to sell the car, so the aftermarket wheels were taken off to be resold and these were the only ones he could buy at short notice.

Pretty much this.

I'd be a bit irked if I had era-correct OCD. I also liked the 2013-2017

but really the original wheels were a part of the car's identity, being inspired by MV Agusta design language for their own bike's wheels.

If the wheels in the OP are flawless then I call it a win.

Those sport Rays look way better than the touring wheels that came with the 2018's.

Those are very nice wheels! Also has the larger red sports brakes instead of the standard smaller brakes. I believe that in 2018 the Turing did not have those larger brakes. In 2019 the new Sport Turing model merged the features from the 2018 Sports Tech and the Turing, so those brakes went on that model. I have a 2018 Sports Tech in red and a 2019 Sport Turing in that gray color.

I call that a score in my book. It is obvious that the previous owner upgraded the wheel and tire package. Whether he did it through the Nissan dealer or by himself after the sale is irrelevant. What you have there are very desirable wheels as long as you can make sure they are genuine Rays and not knockoffs. If they're knockoffs, I would walk away unless there is another set of original OEM wheels included with the sale.

Ah......I didn't realize they made knockoffs of those. Thanks for the tip...I will check. I had those wheels on the 2010 Anniversary edition I owned several years ago. I can't recall...do they say "Rays" on them somewhere?

I'm currently selling my 2019 C7 since the market is pretty strong for those cars right now and I don't think it will be that way when my 2021 C8 arrives in about 10 months. I always liked the Z (not sure why I sold it) and I'm looking forward to getting back into one for a while.

Pic of my 2010 and the one I might buy if it ever gets here.

Yes, they made Chinese knockoffs of those wheels. I can't remember where I saw them for sale online. I believe all genuine Rays wheels have a logo on the front somewhere but unfortunately, so do some of the counterfeit /knockoffs. The real ones also have "Made in Japan" somewhere on the wheel. I don't think the fakes do.

Thanks. Been in the Z world off and on for a long time. I had a first year 350Z to which I added an APS TT kit. Car was monster. Unfortunately, the guy I eventually sold it to wrecked in the first week he had it.

The dealership is closed today but the car finally arrived. I checked it out and it all looks like brand new except for the wheels. They have been poorly refinished. Not sure if they are actually Rays or knockoffs. They sure look like they have more than 1500 miles on them on them and three have minor curb rash. The Falkens would not exactly be my first choice for tires, either. Still interested in the car but some price adjustment is in order.
