If you want a strong lightweight rim. ForgeLine. But you will pay for them. https://forgeline.com/

Why the hostility? I don't want this thread to turn into a flame war for a 100% polite question in a public forum. I'm not a cheapass, I spent $20,000 to buy my G37 6MT with 36k miles last year because I waited to find one in superb quality, I have a $1,000 invidia exhaust, $650 hfcs, $500 intake, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to find a set of wheels that isn't going to cost my entire tax return because people won't get off their high horses and be nice about it. I appreciate all of your opinions, but don't turn this into something negative.

No one ever thinks about ForgeLine. I'm giving OP more options.

If you think they're an ugly wheel that doesn't fit a luxury sedan, i could get on board with that. They are ugly AF, but i wouldn't pretend i needed some lightweight wheels to replace them. and, i'm assuming your car is stock stance and stock body, so really . . . what are we doing here?

Why the hostility? OP didn't claim they are an RPF1 replacement, or that people should be buying these instead of RPF1s, just that he liked that there is a similarly light, and better looking wheel.
On durability: It's unlikely this wheel will be significantly weaker than RPF1's either, and it uses an I beam spoke design that has been proven in many other reputable wheels to trim weight. You can typically assume similar strengths at similar weights given the same manufacturing process and reasonable wheel design.

The purpose of my questions were to be informative to others that there may be a good alternative that actually looks good on the G (according to my own personal opinion). And I wanted to get people's thoughts if they have heard of this brand and if they think it was a good choice. Well, they certainly gave their opinions on that. I just don't like the people saying that if I'm not taking it to the track, or giving it some specific "stance" then I'm not allowed to enjoy the benefits of a lighter wheel with some spirited driving. Everyone mods their cars for their own reasons. Sorry if it came across like I hate RPF1's or that these wheels are king for weighing less. I kinda just worded it like that to grab some attention and get views. |

We were just pointing out that your reasoning makes no sense. Don't start talking about weights when that has absolutely nothing to do with your decision to pick these wheels. If you want them for aesthetics, fine. Just know that you are buying cheap wheels.

I don't trust RPF1's for excessive track duty. I've seen a lot fail or crack over time when beat on. People run them because they're light, cheap, and replacable when one does fail.

I have a few friends that have broken quite a few RPFs. We've switched to NT-03Ms as they're a bit stronger, almost as light, and cost about the same. Either way, track wheels are pretty much a consumable anyway and should be retired after a bit of use.

Well I ended up buying them. I got an amazing deal on these, $300 plus shipping, because the guy I bought them from had them on his NSX which he just used in promotional videos for Superspeed, so he didn't even use the wheels anymore.
Superspeed RF03RR in titanium finish 18x8.5 +35 front, weight 18.3lbs 18x9.5 +38 rear, weight 18.9lbs They are made to clear big brakes, but these still barely clear the sport akebonos on the G, it's only a few mm but it's just enough. Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 235/45/18 and 255/40/18. I will probably get wider tires when it's time for them to be replaced, but for now I'm using my old tire setup from my stock sport wheels. I know I need a drop. I'm planning to go with 370z pre-2016 nismo springs to drop it about .5", I'm not interested in going much lower. Now onto some pics! |
