How much "better" of a tire are the Pole Position tires? (reminds me of that old Atari video game!)

Seriously though, are they a huge improvement? The main thing I see in ratings is they are AA rated for traction, vs A rated for the non pole's.

Also seem to wear twice as long (front), while the backs are "just as bad"...


So, also for consideration, what others stock-sized tires are there for the Sport Package Z's that are "better" or equal to the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position tires?

I haven't heard anything negative about the Pole Positions. My co-worker tracks his car and he swears by these tires.

I'm an everyday driver, so these tires are overkill. Even the stock tires are pricey, but it hates cold weather. I'm not confident driving in cold weather with my tires. Grip is pretty nice. Right now I have Hankook V12. For everyday driving, I think it's better than the stock tires. No cold symptoms and noise is much subdued. I'll test grip once weather improves.

I'm just thinking ahead to tire replacement time. I figure I have a year or two ;)

From my personal use of the re50a's they seemed to have worn pretty quickly on a 350z, but as for tires i would suggest go with the advan sport if you are going to be in the same catagory. The advan sports are known to be very good for street driving and they are also some of the quietest tires on the road. Advan sports are also used on the bentley's as their O.E. tire.

Note that this refers to a tires wet traction straight line braking ability, and has no bearing on dry pavement performance.

If you want better wear go with tires that have a higher UTQG number. For example the Pole Positions are available with a 280 wear rating vs the stock 140. Of course you pay a price for getting longer life, which is less dry pavement grip.
