Although it's not uncommon to experience grip/slip/grip/slip action on new tires with VDC OFF. After a bit more experience, it seems due to being in-between throttle. A little more throttle and I got more of a slip/slip/grip/grip action. A little less throttle and it was an easier grip with no slip. Tire-dependent to a degree, of course.

I like the parking lot suggestion! ps- rode for 45 years, three harleys and at least 20 japanese bikes. haven't been on one since I went down on a Triumph Speedmaster 7 years ago. First time down on the street.
