Oh, You ok...if you read back through the thread? Some tire options were brought up for a Virginia based Z & used as a DD.
I had suggested the A/S3+ Michelin’s because of the climate there...& added tax about bumping the rears from a 275 to a 285 (if desired) as stockers are 26.7”F/26.6”R & the 285/35 rear would push it up to 26.9”...that’s all,,,as unsure OP’s driving habits, cars suspension or anything. I knew the max summer tires were not made for a daily driver in Virginia. The 255/40’s would fit fine on the 9” wheel...just they’re 27.1” tall (0.4” more than the 245’s) As these suggested are oem Nismo sizes. Post your wheel configuration & what your desires are,,,plenty of folks here have been there/done that a time or 3.

Man I'm so excited the car is done, I get to pick it up after work! They sent me the alignment before and after as you suggested.

Hey jchammond! I'm super thankful for the help, got the car back and drove it yesterday and this morning. I'm mostly happy! I haven't been able to really push the car due to traffic but I was happy with the smoother and quieter ride. Overall the car just feels more solid.
A few last questions. On the forums I found users saying if you go 285 in the rear then go 255 in the front (some guys even suggested 295 in the rear!). Just wondering why you had not suggested the 255 for the front? I know the Nismo was something you had in mind. Second I heard one guy saying bumping the rears will slow down the car, that has to be a myth I imagine? Sorry to continue the thread going but just want to feel my 1,200 decision was a good one . Article discussing it rear tire for rays 275 or 285 Lastly I will provide a pic of the car soon, haven't been able to do much in the past few days to work and other things. |

Didn’t want you to get the 4x4 effect....255/40’s are nearly 1/2” taller than the 245’s & would have you at negative rake again (front tires taller than rear)
You got 26.7” front & 26.9” rear,,,255’s are 27.1”

+ a 295/35 is not offered in that tire you got.

Thank you sir! And the fact you didn't respond to the statement that "a larger rear tire will slow down the car" tells me its likely not accurate. I'd imagine the performance would actually improve unless the weight difference is that significant.

Old tires were probably 5/8-3/4” shorter- so you may notice a tad bit of low end acceleration lost; but not likely.

Real quick update and special shout out to jchammond.
Not sure how, but these Michelin (all weather) you recommended are better than the Ventus V12 Evo2 (summer) I had on previously. I finally got to push the car yesterday. Man first to second pedal to the medal nearly 0 slip. Cornering aggressively barely any roll and thing was gripping like a champ. On my second drive it started raining, I was able to corner and feel completely in control whereas with the Ventus would start to hydroplane even before they were worn down. Overall I am very happy! So thanks again. Next up brakes in about 5-10k, I may reach out to you then. Long live the Z! |

Michelin tires are far superior to Hankook tires. That's how.
