Questions regarding four tire options

Hello all,

I have a 2009 370Z Touring + Sport. I would greatly appreciate feedback here.

I am looking to pick the right tire for everyday driving, often in the city and some mini road trips very infrequently. I rarely drive in snow but dodging rain isn't an option as it is my daily driver. I'd like to get peak performance without suffering insofar as durability etc.

What would be your pick personally out these options above?

Michelin PILOT SUPER SPORT
Michelin PILOT SPORT 4S
Hancook VENTUS V12 EVO2
Continental EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06

Pilot Sport 4S. They are the replacement for the Pilot Super Sports.

They're very expensive though. No doubt I'm sure great tires. The continental and Hankook are more affordable. Almost a $300 gap between prices. If you had a second best pick that's slightly more afforadable what would that be?

Are you looking at stock sizes; 245/40/19,275/35/19’s ?

You can drive year round & won’t sacrifice Performance...Also excellent ride quality & you can bump your rears up to 285’s if you want.

Michelin PILOT SPORT 4S, yes, expensive, but one of the best tires all around, except when it gets below 40 Degrees for they are summer tires...
had them for a year and love them

Exactly; Great Tire for warm weather...not a DD tire living in Virginia.

I drive all the time below 40 deg on my RE11's. You just have to be more careful and let them come up to temp. Snow, no way. I am driving my truck. LOL

IMHO, I really like the Continental tires. I first ran the Continental Extreme Contact DW on my '04, 350Z. I fell in love with them, quiet, and instead of a ping noise when hitting road divisions (Michelin), was more of a basketball sound.

I currently have Michelin PS2 on my '13, 370Z. When it is time to replace, I will be going to the Continental Extreme Contace DWS 06. I have these on 2 other cars now and cannot say a bad thing about them.

A tire I didn't see in your list is the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500. I have read good things about them, but, I know what I am getting with Continental.

That’s because you live on the “Edge” & he’s 3/States north of you.
DD & living in a State that sees freezing temperatures = All Season Tires.
Otherwise they’ll crack between the tread & prematurely fail,,,I’ve seen this happen.
Continental DW’s 06 is what we currently run on our Police SS Camaro fleet; but only because Michelin doesn’t offer AS3+’s in their size.

Are there any benefits to not going with the stock specs (bumping rears to 285’s)? Man this community is kick ***, you guys are helping a ton.

kchammond this is exactly what happened on my Hancook VENTUS V12 EVO2 originally on this car (cracking on front, braiding showing on rear). Unfortunately I can't pinpoint what mileage they were put on but the car has 48k. I think I bought it with close to 40k.

Our winter last year was very mild but we had some pretty cold days. I just want something that will do good during all seasons but NOT give up the performance aspect. Still re-reading your guys' responses and reviews, accessing which tire is best for me.

The Continentals are probably the best tires you listed for VA weather. I've been extremely happy with the Michelin A/S3s. Plenty of performance for the street and great in inclement weather. I don't have to deal with cold like you do in VA, but the Contis will stand up nicely to it. PSS and PS4, not so much. Ventus definitely not.

Whatever you decide, don't get the Hankooks...

285’s on the rear will give you a slight rake; like the Nismo.
No fitment problems at all.

Also man. I really really really want to go with the PSS and PS4S but just worried they're going to suck for daily situations such as downpours or cold winter days.

So I think the winner is A/S 3+. Thanks also for addressing the rears, I like the look of rake so I am going to go with that, should be fine on the stock "sport or touring" rims they came with (pic of rims http://www.dragtimes.com/2009-Nissan...res-20430.html).

Last questions:
Why do people say A/S 3+ are ugly? I've seen that said. (I know they are something like very minimally more narrower but I love that wide look on the Z, don't want it coming out looking like a Corolla with these tires

)
Lastly, someone said all season don't belong on a Z.

If everyone seems to be on the same page and you can debunk them looking ugly I'm going to go ahead and just order the A/S 3+ tonight.

Side note JARblue, I have the Ventus on my Z, not a great tire. Very minimal tread life and didn't hold up well in city driving and all seasons (cracking, etc.).
