Tire shopping
Hi guys...I know there are threads on a bunch of tire reviews but I was just looking for some more recent info and more personal to my own needs...anyways I will be getting 285 35 19 rears for my 14 nismo...I really only drive the car on nice days in the summer and don’t need anything for the track as I mostly just cruise around town and hiway driving...all season is not important to me either as it rarely sees rain...would like a decently quiet tire but isn’t a deal breaker...anyways I see Michelin pilot sport AS plus ZP catch my eye and are nicely priced...probably can’t go wrong with them right? I would go for the super sports but feel that something like that is far more then what I need out of a tire...I figure why get a track tire that costs more if it doesn’t see the track even tho it may be a far superior tire...so anyways given when and where I drive the car what would fit my needs best in your opinion...cheap all the way up to expensive options would be appreciated...don’t mind spending $300 a tire but of course if that’s not needed I’d rather not...thanks everyone

ZP’s are run-Flat tires...gonna be heavier & more of a pain to mount/dismount & you will lose acceleration Performance

Torn between getting Yokohama OEM or the new continental for my 15 base. Currently on OEM yokos.
Yoko pros: 4 for price of 3 at dealership with installation, and they lasted 35k w/ some autox. ~$725 Cons: gotta get 225/50/18 and 245/45/18 original sizing Continental pros: I get to choose 245/45/18 front, 275/40/18 r Cons: cost at least $845, plus installation and balancing and I've never bought tires online. |

Heck, you’re close enough to the Tire Rack warehouse in Ga. You can do a local pickup. I ran 245/45,275/40/18 combo for years- good choice! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

If your Z is a DD & you don’t swap out wheels/tires for the winter,,,you would not be disappointed in the Michelin A/S 3+’s...as the handling, ride & cutting through bad weather is excellent. They cost a bit more, but you get what you pay for w/tires....not to mention-once you put them on,they’ll be there a few years (pending on how much you drive).

I’ve heard that some tire places won’t install tire sizes on Vehicle’s that aren’t oem,,but the 245/45,275/40 is a great combo on the base Wheels.

I am on my second set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S,
great tires for wet/dry, but the car is a summer car, so I currently do not worry about colder weather....

That's what turned me on to the Continental Extreme Sports, they got really good reviews for wet traction as well. Job things are forcing me to move to ATL in the next couple months, so I'm seriously considering the All Seasons now... Reading up on tires it seems Max Performance Summer drops off at about 44 F, I know it's about 10 to 15 degrees on average colder there during the winter. Thanks for the advice! I'm using it. |

I've run square Continental Extreme Contact Sports for a while and really like the tire. I kinda wish the sidewall was a tad firmer, but the grip is phenomenal for a max performance tire. I've run them on Sebring a few times and held up well to the abuse. It was communicative and easy to catch. It's by no means an an extreme performance tire, but they're pretty good. Also wet weather traction is outstanding. I can stand on the brakes or make emergency cuts to the wheel and it still finds grip.
