Default Tests of Chinese tires?

I read stuff putting down Chinese brand tires and I wonder if this is based upon real tests or bias and assumptions against all things chinese. I mean I have visited China twice a year for the past 9 years and find them more technologically advanced than the USA (bullet trains, beautiful hi-rises, great airports, more large cities with wonderful public transportation and more) and car dealerships of every kind.

My car seems to run great with the Chinese tires I put on them.

Sure you can get good things from China, but they won't be cheap. The reason why China gets a bad bias isn't because of perception but based on reality. In the goal for making things cheaper they throw out any need for standards, quality and will straight up lie about products.

One of the things I read about Chinese tires. One company was making a brand name tire for another (Euro) company. Quality was good. The Chinese owner changed tire molds, because of a change from Europe. His uncle got hold of the old molds and started to make tires. Never changed anything on the molds. Sold the tires at a big discount. Marketed the tires as the Euro tires. And the quality was crap. Lawsuit happen, and not happen with the lawsuit. Chinese courts just buried it.

Kind of like how the Europeans tried but could not get their cars to get the mileage that Asian card were getting so they planted software to defeat SPA testing.

I had a set of Mayrun's on my G37 and they were garbage. I dont think they even lasted 10k miles.

You get what you pay for.

On heavy equipment (Graders,Loaders,Articulated Dumptrucks) they seem to hold up well; as long as you don’t have to do flat repairs.....as the rubber seems to have more oil in it & when buffing down inner liner to patch-can be very thin & close to the cords.
The large radial’s (14R24,17.5R25,23.5R25) tend to hold a good plug repair.
It’s weird how large equipment these days will come with Chinese tires & we ship Michelin Tire’s to China....ballpark cost is 50% less for the Chinese Tires.
I install what my company buys & they hold up well,,,as long as they don’t start getting “Holed”.

Avoid Chinese performance tires. They're just not there yet in terms of the performance.

However, it's just a matter of time, given that Taiwanese tires have gotten pretty good (read Federal Tires), and the ROC technology always trickles down to the PRC.

I classify this thread the same as an oil thread, oil filter thread, rim thread and in this case a tire thread. You’re going to get this and that…..Its preference. Its hit or miss with Chinese products. I personally have Nankang NSII Ultra Sport all-season tires and love them. I have had no complaints.

Funny you mention Nankang... absolutely worst winter tires I've ever used. Had them for half the season before I got tired of risking my life every time it snowed and swapped to the Michelins I've been running for the past 2.5 years.
