Rears Rays Square Setup - some questions
I searched and saw some other threads on this... looks like some folks have run this successfully.
I am thinking of doing the same - but not at the point of having to run excessive camber or having rubbing issues. I have a set of SWIFT springs on the shelf that will eventually go in.... Who has tried this setup while lowered? According to this calculator: Wheel Offset Calculator | 1010Tires.com Discount Online Tire and Wheel Store Running the rear sport rays on the front will poke out similarly to using 30mm spacers with the front sport rays. That seems awfully aggressive... I run 25mm spacers up front right now and it already seems to poke a little bit. I want to run a 285 square setup. Thoughts?

Yeah. It only rubs a small part of the outer fender liner where it bulges out a bit. Inner clearance is better than Stock. I think it's really the limit of good drive-ability and no real compromises.

im also running it, with 285s and i get no rubbing, i hve the rears on 25mm spacers but i think 30mm would look more even. its great for canyons or track stuff but for street it makes turning a lil funny

wheel lip's just 8mm further in than the stock rear Ray's...but i'm not lowered; SS_Firehawk's ~Z~ looks Great in person; as he is lowered on swift's! Note: with 345/30's on 19x12's out back...you have to wait a bit longer before you let off throttle, coming to a stop...more rolling resistance.

the turning issue is only on slow speeds like in a culdesac, and pulls so much on worn streets lol but ya the performance and looks is definitely worth it. im thinking about going to the nismo rays |

I'm lowered on BC DR Coils with custom spring rates/valving (18k front 14k rear) - Ive been running square rays for my track rims for a few years now. The fronts are absolutely fine, no rubbing. I've also installed the WRX ARP wheel studs (gotta find the actual sizing) which are slightly longer than stock but allow you to run a 10mm slip on spacer in the rear while still using the stock hardware you need to use with the OEM Rays. Allows you to push the rear rims out just a tad.
I've run a 295 square Toyo R888R setup for track days which works amazing. I also ran a staggered Hoosier A7 setup this year for autocross (on the square OEM Rays, 295 front and 315 rear) which worked well, although they were a bit pinched on those rims. For autocross next year I'll be using Bridgestone RE-71R 285/35r19, probably lowering the car a bit more as well. Currently running -3.2 front camber, -2 rear, but I've run less aggressive alignments with no issues. Let me know if you have any other questions. |

I'm gonna run 275's square on a stock sport suspension for economic reasons mostly, which tires and any related issues?

With the increased tire size and potential grip. You may want to consider getting a larger front sway bar at the least to counter any additional roll you may have. Not a huge size increase, but something modest.

My vote would be Bridgestone RE-71R tires but instead of 275's go with 285's. At least on tirerack.com the 285's are a few bucks cheaper per tire. If you're feeling really frisky go ahead and throw the Hotchkis front sway bar at it while you making upgrades.
