Powder coating rims gloss black.

Called this place for powder coating and they told me I need to only bring the rims in. They said it'd take them about 2 days to finish the powder coating so this pretty much means my car will have to sit at home without all 4 wheels on it. I don't think it'd be good to have my car jacked up that long of time. What am I supposed to do?

If the car is on jack STANDS there's no problem. Stands are usually cheap at auto parts stores

Do not leave it jacked up on a hydraulic jack

Yea hydraulic jack could fail...and man that would suck..

Ok I'll probably get me some jack stands then... I wish they would just handle all that for me so I don't have to deal with taking my rims out of the tire and keeping it jacked up at my house for 2 days. But they said they'd powdercoat them for $80 each rim and I thought that was a pretty good deal to not pass up.

You get what you pay for.

There are larger operations, like full body shops, that can take your whole car and handle removing the wheels, dismounting the tires, paint/powdercoating the wheels, and putting it all together - but thats time, space, and man power. You're not getting that for $80 - anywhere that offered to do all that for $80 sure wouldn't be trustworthy unless its a severe family hookup of some sort.

Smaller powder coat places that just have a booth and equipment instead of a full on warehouse/garage just can't afford to have your car sit for two days hogging up space, while also doing the extra labor of removal and dismount.

so again

Pay more and save urself effort

or do more yourself and save

either way, you cant complain. this is the game

I'll probably call around at some more shops tomorrow and find a full body shop that'll do the full job it'll make my life much easier!!

Found a diff shop today. They will mount and unmount and put wheels back on car and powder coat for $420 for all 4 wheels. I don't think that's a bad deal!

Make sure to post some pictures when you get it finished.

You're getting a great deal. I'm getting mine done (gloss black) and the shop is handling everything. $200.00 per wheel. I'll have the car back on Tuesday.

Jeez $200 per wheel kinda seems like a robbery?

As posted above "you get what you pay for". For me, to not have to do anything except drop the car off and pick it up when done and I've seen the quality of the shops work, $200.00 isn't bad at all.

I'm doing the same I'm dropping it off and picking it up to and not doing anything and you're paying double the amount I am. This is a quality shop to, that I'm going to and nothing but solid reviews on this place.

Not doubting that you're getting a quality job. I don't know how much prices differ from where you live and where I live but I couldn't get a bare wheel done for $100.00 (unfortunately).

It's gotta be the places we live in that explains the price differences then... you live in cali? I think everything up there is much more expensive then where I'm at
