So, pretty dumb of me, but long story short, lost my wheel lock and I need to get a new one. I heard that wheel locks go by model of car, meaning if I need a new wheel lock, all stock 370Z wheels have the same lock. Is this true? If not, how do I get a new one?

the "key" is just a specially shaped socket that fits into the shape of the locking nut
your dealership can get you one most autoparts or wheel/tire stores can probably track you one down as well

1) They know I drive a 370Z (Facebook messaged them), so I assumed it went by make? 2) They have no idea what they're talking about and just want my money. |

That would be number two.
The locks do not go by make of car. They are made by McGard and there are various patterns.

There's a finite # of patterns that McGard uses. They could just be thinking they have it in stock or can get it from a supplier locally.
The Z isn't some random exotic with a lug nut key from Mars or somethin' i dont think

If you got oem lock's & have product information- the Dealer may be able to get you a key; otherwise/ get a new set & remove your old ones.

Can't remember what it's called but they make a tool that is an external (female) version of a stud extractor. All the good car thieves carry one.

Dealers have a master set of keys. You can get them to remove the existing locks.
I had to do this.
