you need to shop around more if you're paying 8k for a set of wheels. I can't even think of a set that would cost 8k.
And some cheap cast Chinese knock off wheel is exactly what I'd feel safe driving my car 9/10ths at a track on. But that's none of my business. You sound like a nice gentleman. I wish you the best. smooches.

Strasse, PUR, HRE, Forgeline, the list goes on. Most custom built forged wheels will easily break the 6k mark and some can get towards 10k depending on options.
Not saying you gotta go that extreme to get a quality wheel, but definitely easy to get in to that price range. |

I ran miros on my last car, they were good and held up well. They are just on the heavy side. As far as on a 370, I just can't justify the downgrade from the sport rays as far as quality goes. But that's just me. Most people run reps all the time and have no issues so it's up to you really

I wouldn't put them in the same category, but I wouldn't say that their quality is much better either... I won't even get into their "Quality Assurance" as I've voiced my opinion on that multiple times already.

I.E. are the fake wheels cast or forged? From the looks of it I would venture to say they are cast.

Shitty wheels are shitty wheels. There are still poor quality forged wheels out there.
If pricing is the reason you don't want to invest in a quality set of wheels, then OEM Sport or Nismo Rays are the best wheels you can get for the price hands down. Clean, lightly used sets can be found for around $1000 pretty regularly on the forum. Any replica set is going to cost at least 50% more and be a significant downgrade. No thanks I also prefer to support quality manufacturers rather than the companies who undercut them with cheap knockoffs. And it's probably not going to happen to you, but if it does you don't get to bitch when you hit a pothole and your rim craters in it

forgestars are flowformed. which, for the sake of clarity, is sort of a hybrid casting/forging method. initially the wheels is cast in to approximate shape, and then rollers are used press the metal to final form. in theory, this should yield benefit over a low pressure cast wheel.
i would say avoid cast wheels at all costs, consider flow-formed as an in between option if you want to change the look of your Z without breaking the bank, and of course forged wheels if you don't mind spending the extra $$$ (or buy 'em used and save a bit). Keep in mind not every forged wheel is created equally either (there are some noteable brands that have come and gone due to poor construction of their high price wheels). in other words, you can't break this argument down to simply forged vs non forged, there are various methods that might be used. Do you research, look at your bank account, think about your intended use, then research some more, then buy. If you don't want to fork out for something reputable, i.e. something better than cast wheels, then stick with the the Sport or Nismo Rays. |

We are talking about wheels that are a copy of other wheels, not wheels with an original design. That is what replica means to me.
Irrelevant of their quality, I would not consider Forgestars replicas, as they are not copying or trying to look like another wheel.
