Well guys Wheel Worx studios here in Adelaide have now told me that they contacted Works Japan once again and apparantly the Work Meister S13P cannot be made to fit our Australian Z with the Akebono brake. Only the Zs with standard brake or Brembo brake can fit this wheel. But Australia Zs only come with Akebono, there is no other choice.
So this confirms JDMConcepts claim now also. Bsd luck to us, we cannot use this wheel. |
How many 370Z's have you seen with Brembo's from the factory? (I'll give you one guess and if it isn't "0" it's wrong).

I don't know man I give up now. As i understand it, they fit the US model Akebono Z but not the aussie version???

I have an idea that may help you out: Contact your local Nissan dealer and get part numbers for the front calipers (and possibly the front hub/spindle) and compare them with those from the US/Japan. I doubt they're different, but it should clear any confusion.

Now, the 350z had factory brembos, so I suspect they are mixed up. Still incompetent Shadow, think logically: work wheels is a Japanese wheel company How likely is it that they won't have a fitment on their most popular wheel for a recognizable car like the Z in their home market? Also, there is no chance that Nissan put a completely unique brake setup on the Australian market Z. And more to the point, WORK MAKES DIFFERENT DISK TYPES THAT OFFER VARYING BRAKE CLEARANCE. From an Australian review of the 370Z:
Big Akebono brakes are standard on Australian Zs (optional overseas) and they clearly have the mechanical muscle needed to haul up the 1471kg coupe. Never heard of Akebono? The Japanese brake manufacturer also supplies its stopping hardware to the Williams F1 team, not to mention Japan’s famous Shinkansen bullet trains. I am fairly certain Work Wheels knows the Z better than whatever dumbass retailers you're talking to. The picture you posted shows the same calipers everyone else has, and now this article says the same thing. Your retailer has probably never worked on a 370Z in his life. Punch him in the face. If he won't order the wheels for you, contact Ravspec, they are a large US East coast retailer EDIT: Forgot to add, if it wasn't unclear . . .Akebono brakes are sport brakes. The same sport brakes as . . . every other 370Z. Nissan is cheap. The Z is not a ferrari. They are not going to make special brakes for Australia, they will reuse parts whenever they can! |

Thank you Todd. JDMConcept has sent me a brake caliper measurement diagram that I am suppose to fill out and give it back to him so he can send it back to Work.
The only problem with ordering these wheels for me from the US is because for some reason they are priced exactly the same in both countries. Approx. $3500 USD for a set in US and approx. $3500 AUD here in Australia. But I would end up paying alot more if I order from US as $3500 USD ~= $4500 AUD. Then I have to add customs shipping etc. I would easily be looking at $5000AUD all up, importing them when locally they are $3500 AU. But I do appreciate the offer Todd. Thanks. |
