After trying Nitti Invo and Hankook ventus, I've had the most satisfaction from my S04s and will buy again. Unless I sack up for Pss

I just did my 2nd track day, first time with Michelin as3 and this time with s-04, Very happy with this tire. I still had track left to use on turn exit so now I'm not going fast enough for the new tires. Last time felt like a greasy bar of soap on the road. Would definitely buy s-04 again as a dual duty mostly street tire. I'll keep an eye on these kumho though as I've read kumho has put a lot of money into their r&d recently to start making some pretty competitive tires. My friend just bough some of their v720 tires that came in a very close 2nd place vs the 71r and they were dirt cheap comparatively.

I had the opposite experience. Never tracked but drive like i stole it on the streets. Had the AS3 and it hooked well from a dig all the way until hitting the wear bar. Swapped to the s-04 and instantly noticed the traction dropped (reminded me of ventus evo). The tire size of the s-o4 also measure smaller compared to other brands with same size. Looked kinda goofy and off on my stock height z

Streets don't equal track in the least (I doubt you'd ever even see a 3psi increase on street). S-04 may be slightly less width (very slightly at that) but overall surface area is going to be more with the solid contact patches. Also when you have individual blocks like the as3 they squirm against each other causing the tire to overheat and become slippery.

The s-04 vs the as3 is not even in the same league.

Tell why I was able to run 12.9 on my stock Z with the as3 and my best with so4 was 13.1 on the drag strip? Btw I went multiple session/days with both tires

Lol, .2 is not much of a difference considering, track and environmental conditions. Also, he is talking about tracking on a road course which is significantly different than running at a drag strip. I have not as3 and would never think of it for my application, but I have run s-04 and they perform very well for a tire in that category.

No need to get your competency challenged as your track times are as fast or faster than many with better tires than the two that are being debated.

I never tracked the Z, but know as3 perform better than off sized so4
Don't go half a$$ with a subpar tire for tracking. Step up to the supersports or re11 for that

You are hell bent on being right and can't even take compliment when it's given. I, like jhill don't drag race and yes I had s-04 on when the tt was installed, and no I don't run them now, I run re-11 for street and r888 for track days. That being said, there are more positive reviews on s-04 than as.

By the way pss don't compare to re11's on the track.

Car is 99% street driven so s-04 suits my needs better for my level at the track right now. I'll maybe get another set of wheel and tires when I progress but right now it's not necessary. Can give any of us a f1 car and put an f1 driver in a stock z and gen would probably still smoke us all.

Also the s-04 is the competitor to the pss, the pss gets better overall reviews but it is very close on all reviews and cost a lot less. While I can't speak personally as I didn't try the pss but from some who have used both the s-04 seems to keep its grip better throughout its lifespan where I have heard the pss starts to degrade about 1/2 life.

They need to re-evaluate their budget, because the v720's are having catastrophic delamination failures on all types of cars. And this is happening on autocross courses.

PS91's are a decent tire for the money. A friend of mine was running them this summer on his 330ci. He was an instructor at Gridlife this year at Road Atlanta. I went for a lap with him and felt that the tires did pretty good from what I could feel in the passenger seat. He has had nothing but good things to say about them.

Comparing a Max Performance Summer tire to a Ultra High Performance All Season tire is comparing apples and oranges simply because they're both round in shape. A much more fair comparison is the Bridgestone S-04 vs the Michelin Pilot Super Sport.
