Tire Rack Purchased - Continental DWS 06's wearing unbelievably fast?
I have DWS 06's in the rear. I have a little more than 6k miles on them and they're easily 3/4 of the way gone. Tire wear is perfectly even, I have yet to check the alignment. Tire pressure's are set at 35 PSI.
I have Nitto Motivo's on the fronts and they're wearing as they should. No burnouts, launches, tracking, etc. Some some spirited driving with moderate cornering during the 6k miles I've had them. I'd say over 3/4 of the miles have been highway miles. Is it possible I just got a bad set? The warranty is 25k miles for rears and my car doesn't even have 15k miles. If I did get a bad set, how much of a hassle will Tire Rack / Continental give me to get replacements? |

How spirited is this driving? lol I do a majority of highway miles with small bouts of spirited driving in between and my tires last a while compared to most others. For example... stock RE050's - 32k, Hankook RS3's - 30k. I have other tires I put on for track days though.

When I do take a back road I'm driving the car at 60-70%. No launches, moderate cornering speed, etc. Nothing that would make me think the tires should be wearing this quickly. |

DWS shouldn't wear that fast.
Are the wear even across the width of the tires? When you say 3/4 gone @ 6k miles, that means you are almost at the wear bar? That's like the wear rate of PS Cup and Treofeo R tires lol. If I were you, I would post some pictures of how the tires treads are looking currently.

Wear is totally even across the width of both tires. I don't have a depth measurement tool so 3/4 was definitely an estimate. I'll take photos tonight when I get home. But they seem to be wearing quicker than any tire I've ever had. I had nitto nt555's on the rears prior and they didn't wear this fast. Same driving behavior too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Did you get a alignment when you got the tires?

Alignment as done when the fronts were put on (before I purchased the car). When the rears were put on I did not get an alignment done.
Edit: Talked to previous owner, Alignment was done when Nitto NT555's were put on the rear, NOT the fronts. Last edited by Ghh0st; 06-01-2016 at 12:20 PM. |

After looking at the tires the wear bars are actually starting to show. Only the D is left in the tread. I bought a depth gauge and they're wearing evenly across the both tires.
I contacted Tire Rack and anything below be 3-4/32nds of tread depth or less to file a claim. And it looks like I will be doing so. |

I called Tire Rack and filed a claim, excellent CS and I will be buying a new set, I am going to try a different brand and take your advice just to verify I'm not driving the car too hard to cause this fast of wear. Any recommendations on a nice set of all seasons that are good in the wet? |

Pilot super sports? Running those in stock 225/50/18 245/45/18 on the G with great results. Very good in the rain too, even when cornering.
Corner and jackrabbit starts are part of the equation. How you brake and accelerate while moving also plays a role. How are your rear pads wearing? Maybe stuck calipers?

No jackrabbit starts, and moderate cornering when taking twistys if I really feel up to it. I don't think stuck calipers, car doesn't act like they're stuck. |

Same here. First time running the PSS. We'll see what they look like after 10K miles. Only ~1K on them now.

It's either OP's driving habit or alignment. Probably not the tires....unless Conti mistakenly made a batch of DWS (all season tire) with slick compound, and you just so happen to get the two matching examples...
DWS's don't wear down nearly that quickly. You'll have to punish them rather aggressively day in and day out to wear them down that quickly.
