New Firestone Tire (looks like RE11 in many ways)

Firestone Firehawk Indy 500, I may get a set, Brand new, no reviews at the rack yet.

I hope that the RE11 team had some input! I have many miles on RE-11's, outstanding tire but the cost seems to keep going up each time I need a new set.

Saw it on tire rack as well. Classification wise it's not the same as re11 but tread design sure looks aggressive, and a bit like re11. They are very cheap too. I am tempted to put a set on the wife's G sedan.

Any time soon? I am looking at the Kumho Ecsta PS91 as well.

All manufactures are after the RE-11 for grip and tread life. So the new stuff should be close if not better. I had a set of RE-71 a 1984 Z51 vet, best set of tires ever until the RE11's. DW were OK the the stock Yoko's I did not care for.

If i not wrong,Firestone was bought over by Bridgestone a few years ago,it should have Bridgestone input in it.

Considering these are listed in the 'ultra hp' summer category, I seriously doubt they're in the league of the RE-11 grip wise but, they might be an ok tire for someone not as demanding as the typical RE-11 driver.

Yes, bridgestone bought out Firestone in 1978,,,Bs are considered a premium tire and the FS sort of a generic tire to get u down the road,,id stick with the Bs on a Z

yah many yrs ago ishibashi-san bought his dream company, firestone.

they also do Fusion brand tires which are actually pretty good (for small cars).

no 305?!

i'll stick with RE-11........get it lol

pokeyl 04-01-2016 11:18 PM

Bought a set of S-04 PP 305's. Got cought out in the rain and rear was all over. So for now RE-11 265 in front and S-04 PP on rear. Info S-04's are wider than the RE-11...

Looked over this tire & was thinking the same thing??? I'm gonna pass & order a set of RE-11's,,, these chitty roads where i live w/numerous potholes etc....i don't want a tire failure + I want max traction!

Fwiw, I found out that this tire is branded as Potenza RE003 in other countries (replacing RE002 aka RE760 in U.S.)

Yes, Bridgestone and Firestone are owned by the same corporation. However, the stigma of driving on Firestone tires would have me look at another brand though.
