Adverse effects from using spacers?
Does anyone know if using spacers on the stock wheels would have any adverse effects on the car? Drivetrain, suspension, hubs, brakes, etc?
I am considering putting aftermarket wheels on my Z to get a more aggressive look but might go this route since it is a much cheaper alternative. But I don't want to put any stress on the car by using spacers. My thought is that it wouldn't be much different than putting wider aftermarket wheels on anyway. Any input would be appreciated. I've read a bit on this as I've just ordered some spacers for the rear. From what I've seen, front spacers may put more strain on suspension components but rear have less adverse affects. There seems to be some horror stories about 'spacers gone wrong' around the net, but overall it sounds like they're a rather benign addition. The most common issues are vibration or fender rubbing. One should be sure to check bolt torques at prudent intervals to avoid catastrophic events.

I just put 15mm H&Rs on the rear, very well made and no issues at all. Makes the wheels fill out the well and looks good with the stock fronts. Car has a nice muscle car looking stance now. If you go wider than 15 in the rear, I think it would look weird with the front staying stock.

Here's what I'm getting for the front wheels to clear the brake calipers:
KICS 10MM WIDE SPACER 12X1.25 / 5-114.3 I'm in the same boat as well, so we'll see how it goes in the next couple of months once I get the wheels and tires.

Which ones did you get? I like the idea of the stud replacement onces as they seem stronger than the twin stud type. Im looking at 15mm ones for stock 19" H&R TRAK+® Wheel Spacers | Products || H&R Special Springs, LP
