Spacer install question
Hello all!
I recently picked up a set of 20mm (x2) and 25mm (x2) bolt-ons and was going to install them this afternoon, but could not get the lugs to budge. I'm guessing they were tightened with an impact wrench. Are there any tricks to get these things loose without having to take it to a shop? If anyone here is in the Atlanta area with a home shop and an impact gun to take them off that'd be sweet too. Any tips appreciated |

High penetrant fluid will probably do the trick. Spray some of that p there and let it rest for a few minutes and try again. |

WD40 works great. Kroil works best.

Thanks! I'll give it a try on Friday and see if it does the trick. |

Do you have a long breaker bar? I have a 25" I bought from harbor freight for $20. Comes in handy a lot...

Even with WD40 I was only able to get off an additional two lugs total from my entire car. These things are on TIGHT. I've now wasted two hours trying to get these things off. At this point I'm tempted to just get the spacers installed at Z1. It'll only run me about $100 and save me all of this damn headache.

Listen to Anthony@Royal and get a big breaker. A lot cheaper than $100 and you'll have a very useful tool to add to your collection. If you don't have a torque wrench to re-tighten the lugs, this would be a good time to get one.

Advanced auto parts loans tools, but if you can get a breaker bar for $20 it's well worth it

For tightening lug nuts, a cheap beam torque wrench does just fine. Or splurge and get one of the clickers. (Links not recommendations, just some pretty pictures. But either one looks like a reasonable choice.) |
