The best wheel cleaner I've ever discovered is WD-40. Use soap and water afterwards or the residue will draw dust.

I can see putting some WD-40 (or similar, oil-based product) on a rag to clean stubborn dirt, but don't think spraying it around brakes and tires is a good idea. YMMV

i use rc car motor spray to remove tar and stains. no need to wash, just wax afterwards.
but on my hobbycars, i rarely need to use harsh chemicals. just QD and done. oh wait, op was supposed to search. |

Spray it on a paper towel and then wipe the rim. I've been doing it for years with no issues whatsoever.

AutO'Rileys has wheel brushes for less than $10. That's what I use to get the barrels cleans.

Adams deep wheel cleaner, brushes for surface and calipers, wheel woolie for behind spokes and their turbo stick to get all the crap that builds up on the drums you normally can't reach. Regular car wash soap should work too *if* you keep up on it. Finish with detailing spray or wax to make next time easier.
Ps. I have Works Gnosis 20" wheels so slightly diff needs from a design and reach perspective. |
