I remember reading that having the front and rear diameters too far from each other can make the traction control think you are slipping.

Can someone confirm or deny this?
My front's are 26.6 (275/35-19) and rear's is 27.2. (345/30-19) That's .6 difference in height. No problems yet.

Question

Thank you for all your input!

@jchammond How come in your video the slip light is on? Or did you manually turn off the traction control?

@TN.Z Your recommendation of 245/45/18 and 275/40/18 sound good and I'm really leaning towards either the Toyo tires or the Potenza RE760 sport.

The only thing I am wondering is this issue about stagger. The stock tires (225/50/18 and 245/45/18) have a stagger of 0.2" based on the difference in diameter. I read that it is important to maintain a stagger of less than 1" to prevent the slip light from turning on unnecessarily and keeping the Traction Control System (TCS) and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) happy.

Does anyone know if there's any truth in this or if this is even a concern? Also, I'm assuming the TPMS will be left intact?

Yes; I manually turned it off to show how well it grips/ now in cooler weather, I will get some wheel spin.
And Mr.Rusty- you're in another league! Lol.
Post a nice pic of them fat boys on back.
I'm out the bed & about to start some coffee... Work is around the corner.

If I wear another set out & still have the 18's, my next choice would be the Bridgstone RE-11's in the same size....the tread is actually a tad wider than the Goodyears.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1439883114.753148.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1439883126.034581.jpg
Btw; since putting on the Goodyears @ 30k, I currently have 59k on ~Z~ , front tires still have 7/32" and 2nd set of rear tires are at 5;I put a new set of rears on after they got down to 4/32" & told myself I would stay out of the throttle more....lol: impossible- y'all have a nice Tuesday!

Default Tpms

Does anyone know if installing wider non-OEM tires will confuse the Tire Pressure Monitoring System?

Stock tires: 225/50/18 in the front and 245/45/18
Desired tires: 245/45/18 and 275/40/18

Only if an amateur tire changer damages one.

This is a true statement. This happened to me in bum phuck now where Indiana when I blew a tire moving. I drove from Indiana to billings Montana on a wheel with a broken TPMS sensor clinched on by just an o-ring. One bad bump and I would of lost a wheel and tire.

That's a good price on the Bridgestone 760 Sport tires; (from tire-rack) $636 + freight,
probably can't go wrong there-nice looking tread.

also the tread width will match the overall wheel width; & speedometer will only read 2mph fast @ 70mph.
