So there's this guy selling some 20s...

Hi all. There's this cat close to home selling a set of 20" rims that are considered universal and he had on an 05 Maxima. They're pretty sweet looking but he has no data on them as far as measurements go other than 20". I guess what I need to ask is, how do i measure a wheel for offset when all i have is the physical wheel? Also, for width is it "inner to outer edge of the rim" or "inner to outer bead landing"? I'd like to see if i could get them on my wife's '13 370z Roadster without suspension mods.

Thanks!
daCelt

Easiest way is to first check if the specs were embossed on the backside of the wheel.

Otherwise, width is measured from inner to inner "bead landing".

Measure backspacing and calculate the offset from there.

One of the first hits when I searched for "wheel offset": Wheel Offset Explained - Stop guessing and wondering

You don't know who makes the wheels? Can you post a good pic? Maybe we can figure it out if we knew who the manufacturer is.

Not going to work, I don't even need to see specs

Zerafian 06-12-2015 02:50 PM

just take some pics...if hes not running -8 camber on an 05' maxima, the offsets will be conservative on a 370z

because maxima...you know the offsets are gonna be in the high 30s or in the 40s.

You know it's not even going to work, why bother checking

I would never buy wheels from someone who doesn't know their specs, RED FLAG!

yah, im with waiz on that. i dont know maxima's stock offsets, but chances are they are too narrow and offset too weak.

"Universal" wheels, that's all I needed to hear. Keep searching brotha. If you find a wheel style you like, post it up along with your budget and we'll try to help you narrow down correct specs.

I didnt even think of the owner...never made it past thinking of the wheel since Iv never considered dealing with someone that wasnt a reg. on these forums

Thanks for all the replies. As far as the specs go, it seems that a lot of folks around here roll into the wheel shop, get installed with something they picked out, and roll out never knowing the specs. Turns out that the offset was +35 which was recommended by the wheel shop but were 20x10 rather than the 20x8.5 so I let them go.

u mean this was a square setup? for aftermarket i recommend you go with 9.5" front and 10.5" or wider for rear.

His set would have been square. I have had 20x9(f) and 20x10(r) suggested by a wheel shop here but I take that with a grain of salt and review this forum for the expert opinion.

kenchan 06-16-2015 03:42 PM

20x9 and 20x10 would work, but local tires shops usually dont carry the cool wheels that are wider with the correct offsets.

..and most online stores will try to sell you 350Z wheel offsets.
