Red 370Z with Gold VSXX Rims?

Hello everyone...

I've decided to buy the Work VS-xx Gold colour on my red 370Z.. hopefully the rims would arrive sometime in January 2010..

Could anyone possibly photoshopped a red 370Z with the gold VS-xx rims with black fangs?

Im planning on having a 20"x11 on the rear and 20"x9 at the front... what's your opinion? can the the 20x11 rear wheels fit without any rubbing on the tires? & what is the maximum width can i have for the front rims? 10" maybe?

Thanks Guys....

funny, thats exactly what i would run on a red Z except in 19". good luck! cant wait to see this!

cptspeed 10-22-2009 10:02 AM

you stole my idea. Cant wait to see it.

20 x 11 will fit like a piece of CAKE! VIP STATUS is running 20 x 12 in the rear and something along the lines of +20's offset too!

How's this?

Finally i got my hands on the VS-XX...

Front 19x10 Inset F +38
Rear 19x11 Inset E +23 (O)

But to my disappointment, the wheels touched the calipers :( have to send it back to Japan tomorrow & will have to wait for another 3 more weeks or so....

Is there anyone out there who have used a VSXX on a 370Z or have any experince using them, or anyone who has good knowledge on wheels, please do suggest me some offsets with large lips.

Here's some pictures:

Wow!

m4a1mustang 05-19-2010 08:26 AM

Would they have stuck out too far if you used a spacer to clear the caliper?

abgyak 05-19-2010 08:34 AM

Hmm with spacers the VSXX would fit perfectly but i was advised by local fellow Z's that spacers are not advisable to be used due to safety reasons... I did used spacers for my 260Z once, after 2 years i realized that there were cracks on it.. So i guess spacers are not an option for me...

Spacers are totally safe if you go with a high quality name like H&R. I think you were fed a bit of misinformation.

How close are the spokes to the calipers? Are we talking 3-5mm or much larger?

Also, was fitment cleared with the Work factory in Japan before ordering? Typically they should be able to check for optimal fitment before the wheels are even ordered, but I can understand them taking the wheels back to resolve the issue if it was their mistake.

abgyak 05-19-2010 09:26 AM

I cant fit in the wheels to the end as the calipers were in its way. Im not sure how much space i need to clear the calipers maybe 10mm... Work factory told my supplier that they followed the 370Z specs. BTW does 370Z have different calipers size for different specs? i mean is there a difference in size between the calipers on a touring to that of a base model? If so i think work factory used the other spec... Mine is the Touring...

Jeffblue 05-19-2010 09:29 AM

i think i know the problem. in MOST domestic models the touring package does NOT feature the big brake kit, in your country it does. They must have used the specs from what most countries consider the touring model which is the regular stock brakes. you should tell them you do have the sport package big brake kit.

Jeffblue 05-19-2010 09:33 AM

and btw i love those wheels. are the vs-xx's 2piece or 3 piece forged?

abgyak 05-19-2010 09:57 AM

So i thinks thats it!! I didnt know that the 370Z has different caliper size for different models.. not until today!! BTW its a 3 piece wheel :)

Jeffblue 05-19-2010 10:10 AM

ughh thats frustrating! silly mistake, they should have been more specific when asking you. who cares what the package is called, "Do you have the sport brakes or a big brake kit?" would have done the trick. regarding the spacers: i believe the people on here that they are probably safe, however, when ordering 3 piece forged wheel in a custom offset, i do not believe you should have to deal with spacers to get them to fit right.

keng714 05-19-2010 04:24 PM

from what i herd from rick is you need t disk. I order mines back in dec. with r disk and they ended up having to rebuild them cause it wasnt going to clear the caliper.

T disk? Whats that? If im not mistaken my rear wheels is an O disk and front are regular disk i think. So keng ur using a vsxx on ur 370z now? It would be great and helpful if u can share the offsets of your wheels. Thanks

They did ask me about the brakes.. they asked whether i had big brakes.. i told them that "i havent changed the brakes & its all stock".. i tot they were referring if i had change the brakes to some performance brakes such as endless etc.. I really didnt know that 370z had 2 different stock sizes of calipers on different models.. Oh well...

Liquid_G 05-19-2010 09:47 PM

I'd be curious how those gold wheels would look on your blue 260z back there..

initialgemini 05-19-2010 10:45 PM

looks good... Kinda looks like my LMs

Nice, i love the LM's, could you post some pics of yours?

docaam 05-20-2010 12:46 AM

I had the same problem with my Volks (Gold SF) touching the caliper and they cleared the brembo on 350Z, so I just installed 3mm spacers. So maybe vendors still take the benchmark brembo as size for caliper clearance.

t disk is just once type of face for the vsxx. If you look at the work wheel specifications you will see the different type of disk. http://www.workwheelsusa.com/media/w...5/VSXX_PDF.pdf

I dont have my wheels yet been waiting 6 months on them already, but the wheel are 20x9.5 +4 20x11 -1

Thanks for the link, really helped a lot. I went back to my supplier and ask to make a new set of VSXX rims since i had to replace the previous one and i showed him the table.

I asked him to enquiry Work if the following would fit nicely on a 370Z with Sports Brake
F 19x10 +9 Big Caliper Disk (R Disk) and
R 19x11 -4 Big Caliper Disk (R Disk)

What do you guys think? Does the offset make sense? And what do i have to take note for having negative offsets? do i have to adjust the camber or something? Thanks guys...

R disk wont clear the front caliper. With the offset your going to need some camber, depending on what tires size you go with will be the amount of camber you need

wishihadnav 05-21-2010 02:36 PM

those would look amazing on a blue Z

abgyak 05-29-2010 01:51 PM

Im still stuck thinking what offset and what disk type i should use for my VSXX... i asked a local tyreshop to suggest some offsets for the VSXX & didnt really get some results.. Is there anyone out there ever used VSXX on a 370Z?

Brakes: Sports Package
Front: 19x10 Offset: ??? Disk Type: ???
Rear: 19x11 Offset: ??? Disk Type: ???

What i expect for the end result is some deep dishes of the VSXX...

Hope someone can suggest me the offsets and disk type... Thanks Guys...

vehl 05-29-2010 05:05 PM

Doesn't work give u d offsets required? They r d manufacturers n they already got it wrong once.

abgyak 05-30-2010 01:08 AM

From what i've been told by my supplier (ALC, Beribi), Work requested us to measure the offsets!! Isnt that ridiculous!! As a big company they should have well knowledge on the cars!! hmm...

vehl 06-01-2010 07:19 AM

wow thats crap.. best to rely on someone who's done the same wheels and just copy off him. i feel you man, ordering and trying takes time..

370ZzZz 06-01-2010 09:55 AM

Great looking wheels! I had some on my EvoX.

My suggestion would be to go to a local shop and try out wheels they have there to see what you can get away with. Then it might be easier to figure out exactly what you need for the Works with your baseline

vehl 07-07-2010 12:51 AM

so whats the story on yr wheels yak?
I'm considering changing wheels and the varianza is on my shortlist, either 19s or 20s but I dont want to lower mine.

abgyak 07-07-2010 08:50 AM

Work finally told me that the VS-XX doesnt fit the 370Z with the big brake kit.. Only unless i used spacers... Here's the Quote:

I am sorry to inform you… but 370Z using VS-XX, you have to use spacers. VS-XX 19” use 3 different types of center disk, R, A and O type. R = for cars with bigger brake, A = for moderate size brake and O for small brakes. VS-XX is a relatively old wheel. Years ago, the brake system on most vehicle are not as big, so the designer never really had to factor in the brake clearance that is required on some of the newer cars of today. Even if we use R-Disk for the front, you will still need to use minimum of 8mm spacer. The rear you have to use A-Disk with about 3mm spacer.

Today i just confirmed with my supplier that i'll be taking the VS-MS ... Hopefully it'll be here in 2months time... when's urs coming? Varianza T1S or W4S? Both will definitely look great on a 370!!
