Arizona Vehicle Registration
I am coming back state side from Italy in September with my Z that has never been state side. I am going to be stationed in AZ at DM AF Base. Does anyone have any experience from coming out of country to AZ as far as registering your car there? I think I am going to have them ship the car to a port in San Diego and drive it to AZ to register it. I know AZ requires emissions test prior to registration too.
I guess my question is...is there going to be some kind of temp (plates) tag I will be given to get from CA to AZ to do the registration? Thanks for any help that you can give. Shane

Hey br0, welcome home! The best port to go to is the one in LA since it's pretty easy to get to from the airport. I flew from Phx to LA and caught a cab ($60) to the port, had them inspect it and I was gone inside 2 hours.
As for AZ, they don't require emmissions on cars 2007 and newer. So you won't need that. The registration fee for our car I believe was around $450 if you're not getting custom tags. With AZ I believe you can take your info to the DMV and register it there and get your temp tags you take with you to the port. Your car will come with US tags from Italy correct, or did you have Italian tags? If you have the ones with USA on them, they will cover you back to AZ no problem.

I do not have USA tags anymore..at all. And the europe tags that I have on it now will need to be turned into the base vehicle registration people before I leave here.

And I think if you're not looking to do any sort of Custom tag, they might be able to give you your plate right there... I'm not 100% sure, but I think that was the case with my tC. lol
