Denver Thread
Hey denver dudes!
I've got a small group of guys coming out to High Plains Raceway this month on the 22nd for the morning session. So far it's: me (Cliff) in my 370 Non forum guy Kim in a370 Bill in his Audi (his sweet Farrari is getting a new tranny) Tom (riding) Gene (riding) Possibly Jerry in a 68 track vette ... Any of you think youmight join? We're going 730 to noon. If you've never done it before, pm me and I'll lock you on to the process it's a blast and stock 370s do fine. (Biggest issue is heat but it's very manageable by running a few laps then cooking a bit in the pits.) 120 bucks or so all in. (Free to just come out and watch/ride the passenger seat.) Let's get more Zs out there!!! Shadeez???

Denver Thread
I'll keep posting our dates as my little track gang try to schedule future events. We're hoping to get in half a dozen days or so before fall arrives. Look at the HPR open lap schedule... I think most open lap days are going on Fridays. If it helps, we could always try to run the night schedule they sometimes have from 5-9 pm. If there's enough interest here, I'll talk to the guys I go with and we can adjust to a different schedule. This is the first session for the year for our little group of guys, so this time we'll mostly be shaking down the mods we got done over the winter. (Toyo RA-1s and square 18x275s for me!!!)

well the Z cancelled for rain and the Audi has cancelled for no yellow stuff pads (fedex did not deliver) and the Vette is still trying to get his dry sump working.
I guess I'll bail too it IS raining, and not so fun to run alone...

Thanks surfdog! New to the 370, been in Denver for.. Oh.. 4 years now. But yes I do plan to make a track day or 3 this summer. My work schedule is a bit unique but when available, or not raining I'll be there.
Coffee, mountain run whatever days as well. |

I'll try to set up some meets when I'm not working this summer with denver guys. Coffee/canyons. I prefer weekdays as less bikers and traffic on the roads but am flexible. Track days are per high plains raceway schedule but usually seem to be on Fridays

High altitude performance
So I love my Z and to me it feels like a fast car even at altitude, but in the summer heat performance suffers badly. So far this is what I have done to try an mitigate this:
- 19 row oil cooler - Vented hood Now I am willing to take the next steps to hopefully get the Z to cope much better this summer, but I would like to get feeback on my options: - Larger (more rows) oil cooler - CSF Triple Pass radiator - Stillen G3 CAI OR Stillen Supercharger Would anyone have a any other options that I haven't thought of, or of the options I have presented are there any pitfalls I should look out for (especially for the CAI or Supercharger)? |

going up to altitude I lost about 20 whp on the dyno from california.
High Altitude Dyno / Z1 400 hp kit notes Up here I'd recommend the Z1 400 hp kit to offset our altitude power loss. FI is very nice but does cause some overheating issues on track days. I was on the fence a long time about going supercharger. In the end stayed N/A due to watching a lot of heat issues at the track. Oil cooler is a must if your serious abut tracking you will get heat soaked to limp mode (and dangerously hot oil) in about 15 minutes of hard summer driving at High Plains Reacweay, Just make sure you get a thermostatic cutoff plate to your cooler or you'll have problems in the cold weather getting your oil UP to temp!

MAC Autosports in Parker charges about 600 bucks for a Dyno tune and about 200 for re-tunes (if you do more breather mods later) Watch you OIL temps before you invest in a bigger oil cooler. the goal is to keep temps below 250 or so. Unless you are hitting those kind of temps I'd consider Other mods first. (Like Gen 3 CAIs). Also up here watch your brake temps and definitely bleed in some DOT 4 brake fluid (like RBF600). The thin air keeps our brakes hot a long time!

Heres a few ideas for colorado mods.
-Oil cooler -dedicated winter snow tires (not all seasons) narrow up the rears (265s) for better snow grip -window tint (IDS does this too) -clear bra (I did a DIY kit with a buddy and it turned out okay, but IDS window Tint in Littelton are really good at getting it on our complex Z bodies) -Z1 400 HP kit (consider no exhaust manifolds for DIY) -Radar/Ladar detector (especially arround Morrison) (Escort 9500ci?) Ive posted a few threads about my favorite mods now and then ( Nobody asked, but my favorite mods yet (in order) ) These colorado reccomendations make a big difference up here the way I use the Z. Good luck!
