Yeah, that is a problem with them, which I contribute to since I am one of those bookings :ugh2:

Hello,

I drove up from Lincoln, NE to vacation here with my family and i've been looking for some good driving roads near estes park, I drove on Colorado highway 7 from estes to allenspark today and that seemed like a pretty good direction. I obviously plan to drive over the continental divide and do devils gultch (steep switchbacks between estes and glenhaven).

I was just curious if the Denver area guys had any recommendations in the area.

I'm excited to do some driving cause normally we go 4x4'ing here in this area but not really looking for great paved roads.

Thanks guys!

I just now joined a Facebook group called VQ CO, and I have seen that they do mountain and canyon runs. You might want to see if you can join the group and post the same question there.

I signed up for one a couple of weeks ago, but since it was the 4th it was cancelled.

Hope that helps!

Rims and tires.

Hey Denver Z owners. I have a set of base 18" 370z rims with Yokohama tires for sale. They are in excellent condition with only about 3000miles and no curbing, etc. Would make a great set of winter wheels! Will let go for $800 and meet you half way for pickup. i will post pictures.

In Colorado at what point will I fail emissions:

1 - Fast Intentions RHFC + resonated CBE + Uprev tune
2 - Fast Intentions Long Tube Headers + resonated CBE + Uprev tune
3 - Fast Intentions Test Pipes + resonated CBE + Stillen Supercharger + Uprev tune
4 - Fast Intentions Long Tube Headers + resonated CBE + Stillen Supercharger + Uprev tune

Is this question unanswerable? (Please let the answer be 2 and above).

You should look into ecutek for a tuning option! I just sent my first log to Sebastian at Specialty Z, I will let you know what I think of it when I am finished!

That is great! I am going with option 1 here in about a month, so I will have time to think about what I will need to do if I go with a supercharger. Do people usually install the stock or aftermarket catalytic converters when they go for emissions if they are boosted, and then add the test pipes in the meantime?

The reason why I am going with Uprev is my close, local shop (MAC Autosports in Parker) is an Uprev authorized dealer/tuner. They have done great work so far, so they have earned my trust to keep my Z running well. I will ask them about Ecutek though since it seems to be a new option for the Z34.

I passed Emisions (Jeffco) with Berk HFCs installed. I'm hoping to pass this year with my test pipes using the "drive by" onramp sensors but we'll see. (Maybe I can idle by the test van).

Don't bother Mr Bill does not like them at all. I remember him telling me about the lack of updates and features UPREV has. Although the new update might change his mind.

Since you said Colorado, I think Denver area is the only one still doing exhaust checks. I know El Paso county doesn't.

When I did mine, it didn't seem like it was a very extensive test. I think I was there a total of 5 minutes.

SurfDog 08-04-2015 10:18 PM

in Denver and Jeffco they run you up a dyno for exhaust gasses, check your o2 sensors via OBD2 port and check your gas system with the little gas cap suction thingie (or is it pressure).

However if you drive by the on ramp truck with the sensors out next to them three times with low enough visible emissions (as seen by the sensors by the truck) you will not need to get an inspection.

(I think you have to pass the first year to get registered with a plate but can pass the trucks after that first registration year because the truck scans your plate when you zip by...hopefully with your foot off the gas)

Crypto2k 08-04-2015 10:23 PM

My twin FI setup passed with no issues. Cobb tune, injectors, exhaust the whole deal. That is once they figured out how to get my Z to hold revs on their machine. ;-) Nothing wrong with the car, just went through a couple rookies scared to break it.

I'm going to the evening session open track day at High plains raceway this Thursday (3 September)

I've had zero luck on this forum getting guys to come with, but I'll put it out there again.

It will be:
me in the Z
Bill in his 1970 Ferrari Daytona (very fun car to track)
Jerry in his 65 comp corvette (completely race car converted and SWEEEEET)

I think the drivers meeting starts at 1530 (3:30)

100 bucks and a helmet is all you need (well a car helps too)

Stock setup is fine and bill who is a pretty good driver and I would be happy to show you the ropes. Ive never seen anybody hurt a stock car out there (drive to your comfort...its NOT A RACE)

you will likely:
1.use up a bit of outside tread on your left front tire.
2.burn up a little bit of your brake pads.
3.have a BLAST!

After the track day I go back up to conifer and swap out my pads (for streets) in the garage. Pick up some pads and I'd be happy to pop yours in (or show you how) too. A lot of guys are pretty happy with OEM pads so if thats all you can find bring them allong and well put them in at the end of the day. Also its a good idea to bleed your brakes before hand (take out the DOT3 for sure and put in DOT 4.) you need two people but if your already jacked up doing your pads its a 5 minute job.

...Or just come out and ride with Bill, Jerry and Me in the passenger seat. you will still have a blast and if you've never tracked you'll learn ton! (just bring a Helmet If you've got it so you don't have to rent one)

Liquid370 09-11-2015 11:00 PM

Made it to High Planes today. Just drove the morning session. A blast that was. Woot for limp mode. Time for an oil cooler.

I have stock headers HFC and stock resonators and a larger Y-Pipe with no mufflers. My method was to gain speed at the beginning of the on ramp and cruise through in neutral from about 150 feet away from the ramp truck. I received my registration renewal in the mail with no request for emissions. Keep your HFC and keep :driving:

Thinking about roadtripping my Z out to Colorado. 25% tint all around...will I get hassled by your local law enforcement?

Chances are that if any cops will harass you, it will be Denver police. Just make sure to leave the weed in the glove box and smoke it in a private residence.
