If you guys need a factory master nissan tech let me know...he's at the 104th autonation nissan and will work Saturdays for cash. Just like my pulleys...chuck had them in in no time and has all the things needed and spec sheets to get the job done...he'll be putting in my nismo cold air intake, z1 2 piece rotors and oil cooler before we head back to the track!

Shadezz 01-22-2014 11:44 AM

I had a bit of rattle from my exhaust hitting my support beam underneath the seating area after a few track days....chuck put some spacers on and she doesn't make any rattles now...other then that my interior noise is silent with the continental DW's.

But there is something about soap suds flowing with the curves of a Z. Also I compounded, polished and wax baby girl with this nice weather today.

I also love hand washing my z...nothing like the curves on it. Makes you appreciate the style and design that went into her. :tiphat: :nutswinger:

Chuy 01-22-2014 12:10 PM

For my test pipes I had Drift Factory do mine, $150. Reading story after story I said **** it.

Shades after installing my oil cooler and Greddy oil pan I would do the same also if you could check with your mechanic to see what he charges for brakes lines they are Z1 premiums and check my exhaust.

I have access to the car craft center at Ft. Carson if you wanna try and do them yourself jskracht. If you wanna hear them hit me up 719360410nine

Chuy 01-22-2014 12:25 PM

Since all us Spring guys are here on Denver site do you guys wanna meet up on Saturday night?

Surfdog and Chuy do you have any insight in how difficult test pipes would be to install? I hear those demon bolts are horrible... Would I have to pay someone to do it?

here's the photo i grabbed on my way to work the other day. so nothing but the pipes them selves. anyway just let me know if you're interested.

Shadezz had his ss brakes done by a dealer buddy I believe, but the install is SUPER easy. (the hardest part is jacking standing all 4 corners, which probably is not strictly necessary) I put on my lines then bled the brakes (you need a buddy to do it). 5000 miles later absolutely no leaks or problems. The brakes feel great. Plenty of DIY vids around the forum. If you have a buddy it is probably about one easy hour. Just be careful to not strip your hardware (use good quality wrenches is all)

I asked some guys at brakes plus if they wanted to put them on, but they wanted 200 bucks!!! Screw that! I think Shadezz might know a guy that can give you a better deal...

One bit of advice, if you are bleeding the brakes anyhow, take the opportunity to replace your brake fluid with RBF600 (it is much better/safer at high temps like you might encounter at the track) get 2 bottles to be sure you have enough, and have some extra for later top offs.

Chuy 01-23-2014 11:14 AM

I went with Super Blue brake fluid.

I think I jinxed myself as I got the check engine light late last night, hit up Auto zone and they confirmed its the caat code, I dont know if it was from the cold. I read usually you get another code for exhaust leak, either way I'm putting her up today and take a look. If anything unfortunately I'll have to save for UpRev.

I like the design of those test pipes since they have the side mount.

I probably should have just said DOT 4 race fluid. There are a bunch of brands and I don't know enough about them to recommend one over the others. The guys at MAC Auto sports use RBF600. They haven't steered me wrong yet.

OEM fluid can boil at track temps and cause total brake failure. I understand that The "Road and track" magazine guys crashed a press Z when they first tested it from that problem. I suppose any high temp fluid will prevent this problem. I should always pre-empt my posts with. "I definitely am no expert, but..."

That super blue stuff seems pretty good!

Chuy, did you do the lines yourself?

Chuy 01-23-2014 02:01 PM

I haven't done yet but plan to unless I can find someone who will do them for cheap.

Just another quick update on my test pipes with the SES light, I had someone else pull the code on them and the light was for frozen or cold catalytic converter. I did the alternate ECU reset and no light so jskracht don't be discouraged about picking those pipes up.

HaPpYfAcE 01-23-2014 02:33 PM

i have a bunch of super blue hidden away at the house that i was going to use on my subaru. maybe i'll have to break it out for the Z. didn't they discontinue it, though, due to a federal reg that says brake fluid has to be gold/brownish in color?

ajperretta 01-23-2014 02:37 PM

I had nissan replace my brake and clutch fluid with the GT-R fluid. Free. Apparently, the stock fluid is giving some owners problems and the remedy is to put gtr fluid in. It was covered by nissan - you should give them a try.

SurfDog 01-23-2014 07:00 PM

I'm guessing gtr fluid is dot4

Chuy 01-24-2014 03:06 PM

Springs lets get hot tonight

HaPpYfAcE 01-24-2014 03:12 PM

I'll be there. I live just down the street.

Shadezz 01-25-2014 11:14 AM

Yes: Nissan GTR dot 4!!!

Chuy 01-25-2014 02:43 PM

Doing it again tonight, had a blast. Hope to see you tonight! Meet at the same spot at 9

HaPpYfAcE 01-25-2014 02:50 PM

I'll be there, lol.

Chuy 01-25-2014 06:05 PM

Stop by! Oh no you hanging out with us didn't get home till 2 this morning

HaPpYfAcE 01-29-2014 11:14 PM

woot! finally took the time to test and find the right pins for my mirrortap, lol. blargh. they sent me the two versions of taps since my first one broke on me. surprisingly, the thicker pins didn't work, so i went back to the smaller pins on the version that broke on me previously.

i also had an issue where it turned off the detector when i went into reverse (backup cam in rvm). that doesn't seem to be a problem this time around. yay!

anyway, doubtful i'll be out friday night if it snows, but maybe saturday. maybe a trip to denver is in order for next weekend (7th or 8th). gotta hit up the celtic tavern for some food and 1up, which is a retro arcade bar down the street from the tavern.

Chuy 01-30-2014 10:34 AM

Funny cause my camera was acting up yesterday. I just wiggled my wires and it was fixed.

HaPpYfAcE 01-30-2014 10:53 AM

do you think it's because of your radar detector tap? idk why mine was doing what it was doing, but i'm just figuring it was the broken mirror tap or wrong wires tapped.

also, it looks like the weather is going to be uncooperative this weekend.

I really should build up some 18 inch race (...well lap day anyhow) tires.

I just put on some 275/295 Conny DWs on my track rims and some new rear 275 Pilot all seasons on my street rims, so I guess i'm covered for this upcoming season at least. but next winter I'm going to build some 18 inch square fitment race wheels (so I can friggin' rotate the poor bastards). All these hard to source 19s are killing me on price! and the so called "all seasons" suck in snow. :shakes head:

Chuy 02-20-2014 12:55 PM

You gonna trade the Z

Shadezz 02-21-2014 09:09 AM

Square setup sounds like a plan...I may stay 19s rays for track days and new rims for the street this summer.

On another note...I'm looking for coilovers before track days too!! My budget is 1500..

i'm going to pick up some fortune auto coilovers from the guy i bought my subaru parts from. he usually cuts me a good deal. unfortunately, he doesn't really have things listed on his site for the Z, so you just have to email him for quotes.

Chuy 02-21-2014 11:36 AM

Id do Fortunes also but get the upgrades

Chuy 02-21-2014 02:07 PM

Hook up tomorrow night? Meet at Sams 9PM again then push out to Best Buy?

HaPpYfAcE 02-21-2014 02:10 PM

i can do this.

19's are wayyy expensive to track. and those poor GTR guys do 20"s ha :icon17:

there's a group on fb called south denver subaru club that has big meets you might be interested in attending. i haven't gone to one since i got rid of my subaru, but it's there in case you need it.

Hey everyone. New to the forum, and glad to see some other Denver owners. I haven't seen many 370's around town.
