Relevant to my Z, 'cause I want to hang the CD off the rear view mirror after I compile my program

If you REALLLY need VB6, you can probably get it off MSDN with a valid license...

What do you need VB6 for anyways?

thanks for the tip. I logged on to MSDN, but I only see Visual Studio starting with 2005. I have a MSDN Retail account. I can probably see it/download it with my work account, but it would defeat the purpose, since I am trying to compile a legit version of my code (with a valid license) to sell it (even if its for 50 cents)

So yea, I need VB6 to compile my code I built on work software.

I own Visual Studio 2010 (with the MSDN account), but I cant port my code to VS2010. Too many API calls, and its too big to waste time migrating. Although, I plan to re-write it in the future, I need some monies now.

VB6 = FAIL

Seriously though, who still uses this? It's been dead for 10 years.

I cant waste time porting it. It needs to be a complete re-write. I need to compile the existing version to sell for pennies (donations).

I will give it to anyone here that wants it, once I add some finishing touches.

Just use your work account to get a copy if it's still up there. There isn't any license tracking in VB6 and it's not like you were using it at work anyway.

Looks like they are about $300 on eBay - sorry, I think I threw out my copy a few months ago, but I'll check around.

I'm don't think you can download from MSDN without an MSDN license, which is quite a bit more than $300, but they do have VB 6 for download still

I have MSDN, personal(Retail) and work (Enterprise).

I can see VB6 Enterprise for download with my work and personal MSDN, but the download button is disabled with my MSDN retail account.

Hard to believe that the 10 year old technology, as ChrisSlick calls it, is worth nearly $700 retail!

I'd love to ask you to compile my code, but then your work would own my code, which sucks even more!

Not true. The owner of the compiler has no right to the code compiled. This has been tested in court before.

So, there is a "Available to Levels:" field for VB6, and it says that it should be available
to Visual Studio Professional with MSDN (Retail), which is what I bought; so I think. I'll email them and ask.

If anyone else has it, and wants to sell it to me for cheap, please let me know.

A Retail MSDN should work, what matters is the level of MSDN - here is the list from the site:

Available to Levels: VS Pro with MSDN Pro (VL); VS Pro with MSDN Premium (Empower); Developer AA; VS Pro with MSDN (Retail); MSDN Enterprise; MSDN Universal (Retail); VSTS Team Suite (VL); VSTS Architecture (VL); VS Premium with MSDN (MPN); VSTS Test (VL); VS Pro with MSDN Premium (MPN); MSDN Universal (VL); VSTS Database (VL); VS Pro with MSDN Premium (Retail); VSTS Test (Retail); VSTS Development (Retail); VSTS Architecture (Retail); VSTS Team Suite (Retail); VSTS Database (Retail); BizSpark Admin; BizSpark; VS Pro with MSDN Embedded (Retail); VS Pro with MSDN Embedded (VL); VS Ultimate with MSDN (VL); VS Premium with MSDN (VL); VS Pro with MSDN (VL); VS Premium with MSDN (Retail); VS Ultimate with MSDN (Retail); VS Ultimate with MSDN (MPN); VS Ultimate with MSDN (NFR FTE);

I found my Windows CE Tools for VB 6 , and my VS 6.0 Upgrade box, but the CDs aren't in it any more - they may be with my wife's PC. You would need a copy of something older for it to work anyway.

I'll keep looking.
